On say an EVGA 6800NU
How how did most of you take it for 24hr use in terms of oc?

Also how much more speed or fps did you get in games like BF2 or HL2

Any benches or comparison out there between before and after?

I had an Asus 6800NU PCI-e before I upgraded to a 7800GTX. I was stupid enough to pay the premium for the one with 256mb VRAM. It clocked pretty darn high though with the puny 6600GT type cooler. I remember it clocked upto 425/800. Much faster than the default 325/600.

I overclocked my 6800NU AGP a while back to 385/930 and got a 19% improvement in 3dmark05 (3546 to 4221) and a 23% improvement in doom3 at 1600/4aa/8af(27.7 - 34.2fps) I was getting quite close to stock 6800gt speeds. Unfortnately, the pipelines would not unlock on mine. (this was benched with an amd xp 2.2ghz)

I don't need the speed, so I leave it at stock settings most of the time. The memory on these cards seems to be highly under-clocked and I'm thinking of just increasing the memory to 800-850mhz or so and leaving it like that for my "stock" system

I have a 6800NU unlocked benchmarking chart somewhere on the board, a search of the archives should turn it up.

unlocked 6800Nu benches

"Even if we were able to hit the speeds we achieved in our EVGA e-GeForce 6800 review (400MHz core/810MHz memory), it still wouldn?t have been enough to catch up to say, a GeForce 6800 GT. The GeForce 6800, even with all 16 pixel pipes and 6 vertex pipes running, still gives up too much memory bandwidth to the GeForce 6800 GT to be a 6800 GT killer. The 6800 board?s 128MB frame buffer would also be a huge impediment to catching up to a GT." - firingsquad.

Wow. Those benches pretty much show just how huge an upgrade a 6800NU is over a 9800Pro.

Anyone who says the 9800Pro is a "good DX9 card" should check out that pathetic 29fps at 10X7 4X8X at HL2, ATIs strongest game.

Like I said back then, DX9 first gen hardware (9700/9800, 5800/5900) was largely irrelevant because neither had the stones to run DX9.

We must also consider that the 6800nu employs DDR1 RAM where the 6800gt uses DDR3.
Believe that's what they were eluding to above about the memory bandwidth.
