I have the same setup and am putting it together...

How did you connect the front audio ports? I can't figure out if the 680i has connections for it.

Of course I'm using a SB XFi Fatal1ty so I should probably be connecting to it but I can't determine what ports to use on it either...

mrphones, I am planning to pick up the same setup that you have - 8800GTX, evga 680i with a P180 chassis. I have a E600 proc. Can you tell me what proc you have and how much you were able to push it? I am confused about the HSF and the choice for RAM.

I have the e6700 and right now I'm at 3.34 on stock intel HSF, my ram is Crucial PC6400 EPP SLI Memory, memory clock is a bit over a 1k right now.. System is stable, no issues at the moment.

ASUS VENTO 3600

COOLER MASTER

NZXT Nemesis

I just built my system with the evga 680i and 8800gtx and went with the Antec P180b

P180B

OP, don't buy those ugly cases (Asus and NZXT, can't see which Coolmaster you picked)! Go with the P180B! Or for that type of money, you can find a nice Lian Li or other case.

Dump the NZXT. Cheap cases with poor airflow. Go with a Lian Li.

I know it's up to you, but please don't buy either of those cases that look like transformers, it only encourages the companies to make more of them.

(can't see which cooler master it is)

Okay. I know I'll get flamed for this but I just bought the Thermaltake Tai Chi. I was impressed with the radiator and all aluminum construction. It comes with 3/4 inch holes in the back so I'm planning on replacing the standard pump.

http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/Chassis/fulltower/tai-chi/vb5001sna.asp

Currently I have on order 4 Noctua and Silenx fans to see which I prefer to replace the stock 120mm fans in the case. I'm not much into LED Fans but I'm very into quiet.

This unit will house my new eVGA 680i, e6600 and eVGA 8800GTS.

While looking at an empty case isn't much fun, I'm in the process of making this as soundproof as possible. 5 hours a day on conference calls makes walking into the other room a real problem when someone is coming in a little faintly or pointing me to a particular Powerpoint chart and asking my opinion.

Current system is an ASUS A8N-SLI with AMD Athlon 64 in a Cooler Master (something) mid tower.

My last three cases have been Cooler Master and I couldn't have been happier. Just a tad small for 4 HDD's and 2 DVD drives. My hands are bigger than the interior room available in the case.

You have to see this case to believe it. The build quality is really something to admire. Expensive, but with BTX upgrade capabilities it looks like a keeper. Time will tell.

Since the fish are dying in my aquarium, I might move my Eheim pump over to the computer.

iscsidude thermaltake actually has some newer (and more interesting watercooling cases) included one full tower with a 3x120 radiator built into the front, which is the smallest case i have seen that easily takes a 3x120 radiator (ie no modding required) as the only other one I know of is my u2ufo (which is massive).

I've heard the P180 and I was surprised at how quiet it was. It is also pretty inexpensive, compared to similar cases...

The Nemesis and Vento are both pretty bad cases...CM has a few decent ones like the Centurion for cheap or the Stacker if you want to spend a bit more (and carry a bit more). I personally would go with a reliable P180 or a Lian Li.

nezt and the asus make some THE worst case's on the market. ugly. coolermasters are decent, but still of lower quality material. stick with the higher end antecs if you dont mind the heaviness and some sharp edges, lian-li's and silverstones will be a much better choice for you

"How is the P180B for sound retention"

Wel if you ask me, i would say that 3 layer siding is kinda defeated by having the top fan throw up sound anyways

i sure love the case regardless

I just built a system with a p180, 680i mobo, e 6700, zalman 9500at HSF
8800 gtx sli, silverstone zeus 850
to keep things cool: took lower chamber fan put on back exhaust @ med speed
removed upper HD bay and put top case fan in front med speed(blowing into case)
closed off top case hole
put rear exhast fan in lower chamber set to high
dremeled wire hole in upper chamber floor to match plastic slider when slid all the way to the back
it just happens that this hole lines up with the intake on the second 8800 gtx
giving it TONS of cool air at the fan inlet

it,s tight but works ok lower 8800 idles @ 48 upper 8800 idles @ 53
fairly quiet too the most noise comes from the zalman when it kicks into high gear

Hello I think everyone has preferrences when it comes to case design and look, just like the way we look at clothing or cars. As far as the build quality of the NZXT, we actually have some chassis which share the same body as Coolermaster. We may not be as well known or liked but i can vouch for the quality of our cases and the customer service we provide. In the end it's up to you what you like, the nemesis comes with capacity for Three 120mm fans so for most people that's ample cooling and the coolermaster chassis boasts the same amount of airflow so it really comes down to what look you like. If you like aluminum cases, i think Lian-li's are definitely the way to go though.

If you decide to get the NZXT, send me an email at designer@nzxt.com I might be able to fill up the rest of those fans for you. Oh, and it fits the 8800GTX, it will be a close fit though.
