6850 black screen question.

My sapphire 6850 just arrived in the mail and when I installed it and updated to cata11.2 it went smooth. I then rebooted the pc and I started getting black screens. If im having a black screen and I cntrl+alt+del to start task manager it pops me out of the black screen then once I click task manager it goes back into windows it will black screen again. flickers for a while. I have not even tried to load a game. System doesn't lock up or crash I just get black screens and im unable to do anything.
If im in 1600x1200 resolution its really bad. If I drop to 1280x1024 its not as bad.
Sign of card not getting enough power or bad card?
I was using a 700w ocz that was purchased back on 1/21/2008.

the 6850 is not power hungry at all. Did you completely remove the old drivers before installing the new ones?

I just installed a fresh os and as soon as windows downloads the drivers and reboots that's when the black flickering starts. It works great as a VGA card. Going to attempt another fresh install.

Installed cata first and soon as I rebooted problem starts again.

edit: I guess ill try AMD Catalyst 11.4 Early Preview tomorrow and if that doesn't fix it back it goes

@Tattare,

that sounds like a defect... RMA it and get a new one.
If it works normally (just booting into windows in 8bit colours andwhatnot) and then doesnt when you install drivers, something is wrong with the card.

Maybe the mailman kicked it, or dropped it, and it got hurt
Or maybe it just 1/1mil cards with a defective unit of something, that wasnt caught before being packaged.
