there sure are alot of ZOMBIE games, and even more Minecraft clones, and guess what, this is both. But so far its kinda fun. you start with nothing, search (cars, junk, bodies) for items, get guns, ammo, items. you need food and water, have a stamina bar, etc.. Nothing new here. Crafting is much Like Minecraft except when you figure out a recipe, no more stacking endlessly, just click the name and it will fill in mats (if you have them) and you pick how many, done! (minecraft, add this!). Graphics, so-so, not bad, not great, work just fine, but i wont say they cant use work. Zombies.. slow as heck during day, no problem avoiding them.. night, they turn into speed demons. they will do anything to get to you.. as in, tear throuhg walls, etc.. thats the hitch of the game, you build protection, they tear it down, you look for stuff to rebuild, etc.. Again nothing to new, but Im finding it fun. yet another "alpha" you pay to play, and its one of the higher priced ones.. not going to be for everybody. DAYZ was quite fun, but i dont have hte time most people do, and the work and die to the people who can gang and play mechanic gets old.. Hence this oneis a bit more SOLO (but can be played co-op or PvP).. dont get me wrong, not near the polish of DAYZ. but still might be worth a look for those craving that zombie survive thing, without the living players killing ya non stop.

it seems like a clunky game environment, but I like the concept.

I wish Notch would have taken Minecraft to the next level instead of working on minor pet projects....I think his direction could have made an amazing survival sandbox if he had a simple engine upgrade and AI for the monsters.

Now we just have extremely similar knock-offs that poorly integrate combat/building/etc.

7 days to die is one to watch however, nothing wrong with a good try!

Also, I really like State of Decay as a survival game...would be awesome if a game like that had a sandbox environment to build your own base and actually challenge rival groups with raids, etc., at will and not at the games discretion.

I have 7 Days to Die (kind of wish I didn't purchase it though). I got it around 1.2. Its ok except for at night when every zombie in area knows exactly where you are and makes a beeline for you. Not sure if this is a bug or as designed. if as designed, it sucks.

they also added giant bees which they said would be neutral to the player unless attacked, but they are hostile.

Building materials degrade too easily. Reinforced concrete is like the strongest material and they can break through that easily. you are NEVER safe. i dunno if it's meant to played multiplayer co-op, but it seems that way as you need people to scavenge, people to build, and people to defend. its very hard juggling all 3.

things are a little fragile i will admit, but its to be played like ALIENS, or most zombie movies, they find a way in.. I have had no problems building good bases.. but i must admit repairs can take some time. But you got to admit, if you built a base and just sat in it, it would get old quick. they need some balance issues fixed no doubt, I guess i just like not getting shot every time i play by the asshat 7 year old in DAY Z.

I wish I had bought this game instead of dayZ but I feel like $35 is pretty steep for an Alpha and I already bought to many games during the holiday sale.

Day Z might just be a great game, but its got that one problem every MM game has, it want PvP in an open fashion, which has never worked, and doubtless never will. Oh the few organized gangs, and non stop players get a kick out of it, but he 98% of the rest just want to be those 2%, try to be those 2% and give up eventually. me I love the Idea of Day Z, and it it was played like humanity had just a few survivors it would be awesome (much better to help each other and weed out the asshats), but the asshats run it.. picking on the lowest to gain ground. nothing wrong with NON care bear worlds, nothing at all, those who gank non stop can sit in um alone (as all non restricted and now closed PvP games have shown) as the other players leave.

Right now of all the Zombie survival games 7 days is the best (opinion) but its very raw.. to expensive for its current state, and unless its worked on extensively it wont fly.. being the best in a race of bad isn't high praise. But I see the potential, and hope they continue to improve it. STEAM and GREENLIGHT, and PAID Alpha/beta's has put a pretty bad taste in my mouth, its starting to seem like paying these devs early makes um lazy. Most games in alpha/beta are done in 6-12 months later. I can name a few that seem no better now then 9 months ago.. (7 days is not on this list).

DAY Z is great idea.. if they can find a way to not make it the GANK fest the last version was it will be the Best of these types of games. but in its current state, I will chose to play 7 day if they keep improving the game.

Anyone still playing this?

Just had a major update, and wondered if it got better or more stable.

A buddy of mine gifted this game to me via Steam.

I haven't been able to put it down.

7 Days to Die has a few minor issues to resolve like an obscure forge issue and some very minor issues with melee combat. However, overall, the game is VERY good. Apparently the game has been rebuilt as previous Alphas of this game had significant issues. For the most part, with the latest major updates, this game looks good and plays great.

Four or five of us have been playing ... and dying ... and dying ... and dying LOL xD

We've restarted the map several times with various setting changes. We set it up a little easy to try some base building ideas and to flesh out the design, then we restart in normal or harder modes to see if we can work fast enough to get the design built and then see if it/we will survive.

I have about 70 hours into the Alpha 9.3 build so far and I absolutely love it. Love it!!

Did they fix the homing zombies at night? Like they would all instantly know where you were, even inside a building, and all swarm to you.

Those are called feral zombies. Every 7 nights, the zombies are feral. That's why it's called 7 DAYS TO DIE.

Feral zombies, like all other zombies, have a "sense radius." Zombies can see you and smell you and hear you from various distances depending on what you do and what items you have on you. As an example, cooked meat has a greater smell radius on you on your belt than in your pack, but zombies can still smell it in your pack (like 2 meters away). If you are hidden and quiet with zombies right on the other side of the wall, they will smell you and go crazy if you take meat out of a chest.

Feral zombies can sense you through walls at maximum range regardless of what you do.

This is part of the challenge: you have 7 days and 6 nights to build something to keep you safe.

I built a 30-meter-deep moat (no water) that is 3-meters across around an island. On my island, I built scaffolding 20 meters into the air and built my house on top of the scaffolding. On feral nights, I don't even get sensed. If I go down a level on the scaffolding and shoot at the zombies to get their attention, they swarm at me and push each other off the ledge and it's deep enough to kill them when they land at the bottom.

Because I'm awesome.

What's the multiplayer like and how many buddies can you team up with?

You can add other players to your friends list. The game allows you to select one player on your friends list to "track." All friends on your friends list will show up on the map but the one you have tracked will also have an arrow on your compass pointing in their direction.

This is the extent of the buddy system.

Multiplayer is fun. The shotgun needs some work. It has zero spread and bullet drop doesn't exist in the game yet so it's possible to headshot another player at maximum range if your aim is superb or you're lucky.

I hit my buddy in the face and killed him from my tower at probably 600 yards with the long barrel shotgun. :awe:

...but the sawed off shotgun sucks balls.

I thoroughly enjoy playing 7DTD.

The devs are excellent too - very frequent updates and very good communications on the forum. Wish more games were like this.
