I don't understand what its like to have an actual drinking problem -- and believe me, I love to drink -- but I know that it can be a real problem for certain people.

I'm sorry that you are one of those people, and good on you for taking control of your life and deciding to deal with it. Congratulations.

welp, step 1 is admitting you have a problem

nice though OP!

He has to an extent. As I recall he had issues with the law, maybe a DUI or two...it's so good to see someone who recognizes that things have gotten out of control and there are more important things (lil Rude) that should be your primary focus.

I know it doesn't mean anything because we don't know each other, but I really am proud of you Rude. I can tell you're a good dude.
It's been a while so I may be remembering incorrectly;
I used to give JohnCU and IIRC, RG, temp bans overnight when they were posting drunk.

maybe, possibly, i might have a slight drinking problem? i mean, i drink at home, normally by myself, in my man cave, with a nice expensive cigar, but i think i'm starting to drink in excess and almost daily and that can't be good.

i decided to not drink yesterday and detox and my body started developing pain for no reason. i had a half a pint of cognac in my man cave, but didn't really feel the need to drink much.

not sure if that makes me an alcoholic or not to be honest.

Now you know why I declined

Don't feel bad. I'm the one who is broken. Normal people drink beer in Beer City USA. I'm not opposed to going to places where others drink, its just boring for me. When I was in Vegas the other guys were tearing it up and I was just trying to find a decent cup of coffee. It didn't bother me at all but the other guys were confused as shit.

I did try to make a serious thread about alcoholism but it didn't end well.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

ITT: I learned that The Flying Pig was responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs, and very likely the bubonic plague outbreak of the 14th-15th centuries.

I suppose the real "apology" that the mods have been waiting for is not the one they have made public.

I figured none of my business. When a man says he doesn't drink, I respect that, and he doesnt need to explain it any further.

But anyhow, congrats, thats a long time! I think my favorite aunt is maybe 1 or 2 years behind you...

Extinction of the dinosaurs, we could tolerate. Nobody misses Packard Bell or floppy drives. But . . . spreading the plague made for an unsafe play environment. ATF HR was consulted. It was decided that an apology on the order of, "You gave zinfamous a terminal disease. Now say you're sorry!" was called for.

Ignorant question here, but does that mean 7 years since consuming alcohol at all? Or specifically for the point of drinking?

Either way, congrats!

Nah, still my favorite ... since I was about 2 years old, my auntie JoAnne was always my favorite aunt. I used to chase her around with fish that we caught when I was like 3 or 4. She has phobias of fish, bugs, snakes, frogs, etc ... and I brought them all to her because I thought they were cool/amazing.... ahhh soo hilarious

I want a midget.

Progress...not perfection
Sorry. Mine has grown to a vicious troll status.

Going by family height, the wife could be considered the midget at 5'4". Interested? Paypal accepted.

kidding, again. No way I could find another woman to work 2 jobs

Who'd have thunk we have something in common... My last drink date was March 18 1992. If I make it up to GR for the Spring Conference for respiratory therapists perhaps you can direct me to a good meeting...

Every family get-together she tells at least one or two stories about being chased around with fish or frogs.

I simply helped to prepare her for her own kids, she has since raised 2 boys of her own...
