The Impreza has this issue. The fuel pump starts when you turn the key. If you turn it ALL the way on, it doesn't have time to fully pressurize the line. If you turn it partway, the fuel pump will start then stop. THEN if you turn the key it will start.

It will start on the first turn of the key, IF you make a short pause in the middle.

No big deal, not indicative of reliability issues.

True, a stock STi cannot hang with a Z06, but if you spend the difference between the two, you could modify it to kill a stock Z06.

Word has it that there are no more 5 speed Aeros available. Also, for 2006 the Aero will get the 2.5L turbo engine instead of the current 2.0L turbo variety.
