Hey all,

I saw no less than 65 separate 700E threads all related to getting the most out of it so I thought it might make sense to roll them into one.

Why not post/answer all questions within here whether they be optimal case temperatures/ BX motherboards, Quick Silver paste or anything else.

I currently have a 700E CBO I got from Onvia running in the Abit SlotketIII card on my Abit BX6 Rev 2 (latest Bios).

I am only currently able to get it stable at 868 and do not know why. The CPU will post at higher speeds but I get strange unpredictabilities it would be nice to squash. The 868 is accomplished with 7 * 124FSB(1/4 PCI divider). Anything higher gives me errors like Bios screen letters not displaying correctly, windows failing to boot doe to perceived registry corruption and occasional memory post failure.

Any ideas? Lets hear your own experiences

I have received 2 inquiries for system specs. MAybe you all have problems too that these specs can help with. Chinman may be right, the BX chipset in my MOBO might not be able to handle the higher FSB even though the BX6 Rev 2 FSB options go up to 150.

:: Creative Blaster Annihilator 2 card.. run at 2/3 AGP
:: SBLIVE
:: Adaptec 2940UW Pro SCSI Host Adaptor (PCI so I thought that it should not have problems being that it was run at 1/4 FSB)
:: IBM Ulstrastar 10,000 rpm SCSI HD
:: Yamaha 6/4/16 SCSI CDRW
:: Pioneer 6X SCSI DVD
:: Hollywood+ DVD Decoder Card
:: 256 meg DIMM PC133 ram from Step Thermodynamics (I am thinking it is the ram, the 133 guarantee might be BS)

the bx6.2 isn't known to be stable at high fsbs. I think anything above 133...had a bx6.2, got myself a asus and running a 550e@825 (150fsb)

mileage will vary of course..

Looks like you got stuck w/a "lemon" like I just did. I got a 700e fc-pga cB0 w/Iwill Slocket-II + Alpha PEP66 and I got the same as you did. I got it on P3V4X w/256mb KTI PC-133, the same system I had the 600e @800+ w/o the Alpha (Golden Orb) and I just switched out the CPU/heatsink. I run the BurnInTest + PerformanceTest to see it I can figure something out. I knew I should've swapped it out w/ that loaner from my cousin.
(Oops, don't know what happened "cous" it just refuse to dance at 133 for some reason!)

Guys with the retail boxed fcpga cB0, what is the part number on the box?

I can place the part number online once I get home and have a chance to look at the box, assuming they placed a part number sticker on the box.

My retail CBO was clearly marked on the outside of the box as a 100mhz chip so that you knew it was CBO stepping just from the box exterior. Let me restate that my CBO retail box was actually a different box from a nonCBO chip. If all of the CBO boxes are similarly marked their should be no confusion regarding which chip you are getting. This is of course assuming you have access to a picture of the box your shipment is coming in or a salesman who has access to the box. The actual chip code that verifies this is a CBO clocked chip is SL45Y which is printed on the CPU.

Let me know if that helps

Compuwiz1, the box #'s from the flip chip I just picked up:

BX80526F700256ESL45Y

Batch # 7020A226 (Phillippines)

Got it to boot into Windows at 1008 and default volts on the P3V4X. Running it at 140/980 right now on a CUBX (this board purchase was a mistake, for some reason I thought it had a lot more FSBs than it does, but despite that it's still pretty nice). Gonna sell it and get a BXmaster or wait and see how CUSL2 overclocks.
