So much power at the rear wheels but not that impressive in the 1/4.

Earlier quote:

A powered front axle would help, but you’ll want more rubber out back, too. The Hellcat’s 275/40R-20s are all too easy to reduce to the rubber pellets now thickly coating the wheel wells of our test car. It takes feet as light as a ballerina’s to get the Hellcat to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds—0.1 behind the GT500—and through the quarter-mile in 11.7 at 126 mph—0.1-second ahead and 1-mph faster than the GT500.

Also, reviewers often refuse to use launch and traction control with the idiot belief that they are as good as Chris Hayes or something. Fire those systems on and their times would improve.

Sorry it only makes 635 hp at the rear wheels. Power at the rear wheels is the only thing that matters. That 707 hp is calculated at the crankshaft, in other words, phony. Why do these manufacturers still put out these fake numbers?

Rant aside, this thing looks like a lot of fun. My buddy ordered one and I can't wait to drive it.

You are ranting because it makes 722hp at the crank instead of the advertised 707hp?

You do realize advertising crank horsepower is pretty much universal across the automotive industry, right? Besides, horsepower is just bragging rights. For me, low end torque is much more important than power output in a car/truck.

Maybe because rating it what the engine produces is the only way that makes sense? Wheel horsepower is variable. Different transmissions have different amounts of loss. Final drive ratios can change it. Different size tires can change it.

With an engine on an engine dyno, everything is even for everybody, and it is repeatable.

It is also silly to cite wheel horsepower as well. Chassis dynos are good for one thing. Modification comparison on the same exact dyno (and even then they are suspect). They give you a ballpark figure, but are notoriously inaccurate.

edit: At least with the SAE standards, we can be reasonably confident in the numbers presented when the manufacturer does an SAE method measurement.

Why? Just why? That takes all the fun out of doing the work yourself. I'd have a much greater appreciation of the car if I made it that fast, but buying it stock with that much power should be reserved for a nicer car than a dodge.

Much better to buy it straight from the factory with a full warranty on all the GO-FAST parts. If you took a 300 HP Charger and started swapping parts and modifying to get 707 HP, your factory warranty would stop faster than Brembo brakes.

warranties these days are a f^cking joke... I'm sorry sir, you thought about tracking that car and that is enough to deny your warranty claim on the window regulator you are having issues with. I've bought a few new cars and not had a single good experience with a warranty

nissan - shit (paint issues and hvac issues)
ford - shit (door locks and fuel injector issues)
honda - shit (door rattle/seal issues)
mazda - shit (sunroof issue)
Dodge - shit (CV boot issue, trans issue)

That's a pretty ridiculous claim. I'd love to hear the details of each of your issues someday.

I was an auto mechanic and service writer at two different dealerships. And I know many people in the industry. I can't think of a single time where someone's claim was unfairly denied. As a matter of fact, it's the complete opposite... Customers getting repairs covered under warranty outside of the terms was commonplace.

I'm sure other professional mechanics here would say the same.

This, if for no other reason than it's free money for the Dealers. Customer comes in with a defect on the car you sold them, the customer gets their stuff fixed and is happy and the Manufacturer pays for parts and the labor. There is little to no reason for a dealer nowadays to fight any warranty repairs.

I've had dealers step up and honor a warranty claim AFTER the mileage allowed. Why? Because they wanted to make a customer happy. Seems like they just don't like you.
