And?

People act like only GM cars are being recalled......

They seem to be the only ones recalling a new block of vehicles every week.

My above post was meant in jest. You need to lighten up.

Anyone know if they'll put this engine in the Charger? Need space for the wife and kid I currently drive an RX8 with a Car seat and a stroller in the trunk

They have already announced that they are. My guess is the 2017 car.

Wow really where?

Sorry, announcement is probably a big word.

This is when we get first sniff of it.

http://jalopnik.com/600-horsepower-dodge-charger-hellcat-could-be-americas-1591520361

We probably won't get a true announcement for some time. But they said that for all intents and purposes that the Hellcat is the replacement for the 392 SRT Hemi and that the Hellcat was going to be in more cars than just the challanger. That the 300 wasn't going to get another SRT and that the GC was going to get to keep the SRT badge even though it's really a Dodge only badge from this point on. With only the Charger as the only other SRT'd car left that was a Dodge, it would be the only other car that would make sense for the Hellcat (specially since the Cuda short car stories died (and probably why SRT stopped being a standalone badge)).

That and there is already spy pictures of it.

http://www.tflcar.com/2014/07/charger-srt-hellcat/

Looks like they meaned it the front end again (I liked the look of first Gen SRT Charger).

If that was a mule they wouldn't have done the double secret covers (Zebra paint scheme under the leather covers).

In the end holding off announcement probably lets them back out if the Challanger sales disappoints. If it doesn't sell well to start it might prop up the car and the engine being the only way to get that kind of power. Bringing out a second car would just dilute sales of both cars and maybe equal less for both than just one car alone. But I can't see this car selling poorly. My dad got a new job and decided to get a 2014 Viper GTS thinking that the Hellcat wouldn't endanger the Viper and that like the Corvette the Viper would be protected. He is already kicking himself. To much power for too little. This is going to sell out consistently and will probably be "market adjusted" all over the place.

Heck $60K for a 700+ HP car is in "Shut up and take my money" category. I just bought a 2014 Dodge Durango so once I am done paying it half way or so, I'll be looking at this or the new RX7

Yes. It will come. Be patient. I am setting aside coins for one myself. Just need to convince Chrysler I won't order the Hellcat Charger without a spoiler delete. Hate the goddamn spoiler.

How you like the Durango? It's amazing how they transformed that from a heap of crap with parts-bin galore into a cohesive, attractive vehicle. I admire each one I see on the road. And everything I've seen points to a great ride. Great reviews.

Man I love it. I got the R/T Trim with AWD, with every option under the sun minus the engine block heater. The biggest sell was my wife and she loves it as well. Nothing came close to the price based on the options I chose. You truly get a lot for your money. I got Nav,Sunroof, Tow, Tech pack, Rear Blu ray for $45K. I could have gotten it lower but there was only one truck with all those options and AWD where I live in the south. That AWD was hard to find since down south there is no need for AWD.

As for negatives, I feel the leather quality could have been a bit better and biggest negative is no storage at all in the front and second row. But I knew that going in and so did the wife.
This ad sums it up ...lol BTW mine looks exactly like that ad. Awesome color

I almost was set on getting the Enclave but then happened to test drive the DD at the Atlanta Auto show and was seriously impressed and surprised. Dam thing has a tighter turn radius than my RX8.

I find myself making excuses to my wife to take out the Durango instead of my RX8

A lot of power and straight line speed. But I guess you gotta wait to see how it handles.

I am actually liking the 2015 Challenger 392. I think it'll be more easy to live with compared to the HellCat

Still reading those Euro auto mags from 1991 huh?

It's certainly not an oxcart, but the handling numbers will be underwhelming considering the weight.

Edmunds said:
As tempting as all that horsepower may be, the Hellcat's $60K price tag puts it in some pretty exclusive territory. Better make sure you're fine with owning the drag strip, as there are plenty of cars at this price point that will leave the Hellcat in their tracks when the road turns twisty.

Normally, a car that weighs 4,439 pounds wouldn't be considered all that capable of cornering, but the Hellcat far exceeded expectations. At the limit, the car feels surprisingly balanced even though the weight is biased 57 percent toward the front. Understeer is rare and the big Challenger reacts exceptionally well to trail braking deep toward the apexes.

It doesn't corner with the kind of urgency and quickness that embody sports cars weighing much less, but it is just as rewarding in a more leisurely style.

http://www.edmunds.com/dodge/challenger/2015/road-test.html

This is a straight line tourer, that's pretty obvious. That's not necessarily a bad thing because it's not pretending to be anything else.

I would doubt it, with a high center of gravity and that kind of power it's a rollover waiting to happen, plus it would up the price to the point that other competing SUV's would come in much cheaper and with more features. Whats cool about this car is the level of program-ability built into it, and the "valet" mode on the key FOB that turns it into a kitty-Kat so someone parking it won't be around the corner doing epic burnouts that Bruce Springsteen would write a song about while your eating dinner..

Even a mildly detuned version would be ok, say 701hp!

The SRT Jeep wasn't really competing with other SUV's. More of a toy with some functionality.....like the SRT-10 Ram.

Always liked the SRT Jeep.

Yeah, I wanted an SRT ram too but it was just too costly and impractical. An SRT gc would at least be useful as a family hauler.

Won't happen. again an SUV has a high center of gravity, giving one 707HP is asking for a rollover accident not to mention the fuel consumption, the hellcat manages around 12-13 MPG in city driving, put that engine in an SUV and your looking at less than 10 MPG, few people would like that idea, if you want speed and thrills, buy the hellcat, that's what it's meant for.
