Again, it's not the NBA. It's a league which appears to appeal to an audience that WANTS to see this kind of stuff. If you didn't want to SEE showboating, you really shouldn't click on a like that says "720 Dunk in a basketball" game in the first place. Especially if you're just going to sit and pick it apart afterwards. "720? Whatever, I only saw 1.5 spins... I'm gonna play it back in slow motion and take 20 screen caps to prove it's not as cool as everyone thinks." Talk about a pointless endeavor.

AMAZING

Wow, his 360 between the legs are arguably more specatcular (and harder to do) than his 720. I can't believe he's only 6'2". But his leaping ability still pales in comparison to Spud Webb who is only 5'7".

Check out Spud Webb in the NBA Dunk Competition. That guy was freaking amazing. :Q

That's way cooler, I aggree. I also prefer the crazy between the legs 360 to the "720".

to all the naysayers. Chill out!

a few thoughs -

a very impressive dunk, I've never really seen that before

as a few others have said, he jumped up and did two complete revolutions by the time he landed, but not before he dunked....still, I have no problem calling it a 720 dunk. I'm not sure I'd pick Amare as a candidate to do this among NBA players, perhaps D.Wade or Lebron, maybe Vince Carter in his prime as well. I suspect we may see an attempt at this during the next NBA dunk contest as well.

The whole "it's only 2 pts " thing is just being stupid in this thread...however, the entire "and1" phenomenon is one of the worst things to happen to basketball in this country, ever. Kids watch this garbage and try to emulate the moves they see instead of actually learning how to play, and now you have other countries beating us in international competitions, which should really never happen.

Rafer Alston is, as far as I know, the only player to go from the and1 tour to the NBA, but in truth there are probably a handful of other guys who could make an NBA roster or two. There is some real talent there, but there are also quite a few guys who can't shoot a lick, but can jump and/or dribble off the charts.

I agree that all this bickering about whether it's a 720 dunk or "it's only 2pts" is stupid ... but all this and1 stuff is pretty cool. I think as more kids watch and practice this, it'll eventually get into the NBA and it'll make it more fun; granted some of the moves are illegal, it'll add something to the game.

k let me break this down for you guys who think its a 720 dunk...

- ends dribble - (facing away from camera)
1/4 rotation left = 90 deg
- jump - (facing to the high post)
1 rotation left + 1/4 rotation left = 450 deg
- dunks - (facing toward camera)
1/2 rotation left = 180 deg
- land - (facing away from camera)

watch this slo-mo video if you don't accept my analysis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRdpjxIlhvM&mode=related&search=

now on to the definition of a dunk....

1. dribble to land total = he did a 720 (most generous as it doesn't restrict the spins to being pre-dunk)
2. dribble to dunk total = he did a 540 (typical definition)
3. jump to dunk total = he did a 450 (most strict as it requires all spinning to take place mid-air)

badass, awesome, sweet dunk but it wasn't a full 720 in my book.
I'll give him the pre-jump turn since he starts out heading at the basket, but not the post-dunk 180.
so its #2 a 540 degree slam.

I see a 720, and a lot of bitter nerds who wish they had a fraction of the game this guy has. You think his opponents sat down after the game and ripped into him for how far through his spin he was when he hit the basket, or where his feet were when he took off? Please, shut the fvck up.

how about no

you post something on a comp forum full of people who are good at math and sh!t what did you expect they were gonna do, and yest technicially he did NOT rotate 720 degress when he put teh ball in teh basket, we are just stateing the truth

and the absoulte fact of the matter is no matter what he did its stiull only 2 fing points, 2 points is 2 points regradless of what stupud ass showboating you do to make it

hahaha are you serious? If so, you have to be the biggest loser ever. Do you use your great math and sh|t skills with everything then? Its not about how many points it is, its about the dunk itself, make another topic to discuss points. Youre just being negative because you have never had anything to showboat......oh except for those math and sh|t skills.

idiots

So I can't say a watch is ****** because I can't make a watch? Or that the 7900 shimmers beacuse I can't even make a GFX card? So basically I can't complain about anything because I can't make something better?

Fact is, he didn't do a 720, but more like a 450. I'm sorry if I'm not allowed to criticize him because I'm not a pro-basketball player.

Agreed 100%.

Basketball has devolved in the US to the point it appeals to the dumbest of sports fans. Who needs details, facts, or technical skill when you can have a bunch of showboating and whooping it up after athletic feats?

This is why the U.S. routinely gets DESTROYED in international competitions anymore. MJ, Magic, & Bird would be ashamed.

Regarding the bickering, I love that the "UR JUST SO JEALOUS" excuse is being flung around. "They're just jealous" is the excuse mothers tell their children who get made fun of on the playground. No, people aren't criticizing the dunk (it was an incredible feat), they're criticizing the people who aren't even smart enough to recognize what is or is not a 720 degree dunk.

Reading comprehension > any dunk

It was actually a 540 spin, to be a 720 he'd have to land with his back facing the goal, still an impressive dunk though. I bet on a 9.5' he gets much closer to a full 720.

Not even close to 360. His back is to the hoop when he takes off. He then angles from the front of the basket to the side, saving himself another quarter turn. He actually does only about 1 1/4 turns in the air, certainly less than 1 1/2 turns. Call it somewhere between 480 and 540, he's not even close to doing a 720.

Jesus you guys are a bunch of retards. I could say, "Hey, I just ate this whole pie!" And you'd say, "No you didn't you freaking liar I see 13 crumbs on that tin plate!"

Why can't anyone appreciate something around here for what it is.

ROFL!! Congrats, you're the biggest retard of all. 13 crumbs would be what, 0.00000000001% of a full pie? But 1 full revolution is only 50% of a full 720. Tell me Skippy, since you seem to love the pie analogy. If you left 40% of a pie on your plate would you then claim to have eaten the entire pie? Get a clue.

ahaha:thumbsup:
