7300GT GDDR3 or X800GTO2 ? what to choose?

I can afford these USED video cards in my country for the same price. I only play Live For Speed (not NFS), but I usually like to test some games.

The Leadtek 7300GT extreme is 128Mb and comes with clocks: 520 core/1400 mem.

The Sapphire X800GTO2 has 16 pipes, 6 vertex, VIVO, clocks: 400 Core/1000 Mhz mem (gddr3).

As LFS has no problem with SM 2.0, maybe the X800 is a better choice (Im gonna play in 1680x1050) and i would like to add as many filters as possible with all 32 cars on track.

Do I go with the 7300GT for better compatibility and maybe more future proof?

Please advice me.
thanks!

Future proof on a 7300GT?? :Q

The X800GT02 is considerably faster than the 7300GT. Forget about SM3.0 on a 7300GT. That's not a gaming card!

here are some benchmarks comparing them

well, but take in mind that this 7300GT is better than a 7600GS and Oced is nearly a 7600GT stock. its not any 7300GT with ddr2 and low clocks.
Anyway, if you say that SM 3.0 isa not a real advantage, ill go with the GTO2.
Thanks and if you have anything to say, ill keep coming here to see.

IIRC, the 7300GT only has 4 pixel pipelines, whereas the 7600GT has 12. All the OCing in the world couldn't bring the 7300GT to 7600GT, and that's where the X800GTO2 wins out, especially since you could get all 16 pixel pipelines and potential overclock to XT levels with it, which would pummel the 7300GT to the ground.

Furthermore, at such speeds, SM3 on the 7300GT makes no difference, as it completely lacks the muscle to drive anything using it.

the 7300GT has 8 pipes, not 4.
the 7300GS has 4 pipes.
with 8 pipes its only 4 pipes behind the 7600GT and with GDDR3 memos, it runs better than any 7600GS with DDR2.

I believe the 7300 is a close relative to the 7200... and if the 7200 in our HP laptop is anything to go by..... steer WELL clear of it!

A 520mhz 7300gt still has less pixel shader power than a stock 7600gs, and no amount of memory speed advantage will make up for than deficit. That 7300gt is slower than a 7600gs, and even slower still than an unlocked gto2.

Well I got in on the Tigerdirect deal for the passively cooled 7300GT 512mb, GDDR2. I can tell you not overclocked it preformed in line with my old 9800XT 256mb in BF2. I don't know the benchmark scores, all I did was BF2. Does the x800 require external power? The 7300 doesn't if that's important to you. One more piece of advice, DO NOT get the 7300Gt with only 128mb if you're wanting to play at the resolution you stated. I would find one with at least 256mb.

ok, Ill get the X800GTO2, you convinced me

BTW, LFS is the only game i play and it runs great at 1680x1050 with only 128mb video card.

Thanks !!!

All theory and no truth...

Because the card is not usually sold in the States, very few people know exactly how fast the 7300GT DDR3 actually is. It can break 10,000 in 3dmark03, while the DDR2 version gets like 5500.

http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=6320&page=5

The left bar is a 7300GT DDR3 at 500/700
Middle is a non-standard 7600GS DDR3 at 500/700
Right is a standard 7600GS 400/400

Still, I think I would get the x800gto. But there isn't a world of difference performance-wise between the two.
