yes, but not in the sense that any of the religions teach. i don't believe at all that there is a god "being" or force in the sense that it is a unique individual somewhere in the heavens plotting and caring for the lives of humans.

my wife believes in the christian god and doesn't really understand my beliefs but we don't have any problems about it and we're raising our daughter under the christian religion but when she's old enough to be interested in these things i'll give her my point of view.

edit: btw, i voted no in the poll because you are asking if i believe in a superior being that is god.

So would you say that you prescribe to no religion at all? Or is there a certain religion or philosophy that's closest to your beliefs?

I remain neutral as I have no proof of the affirmative or the negative.

I guess that makes me agnostic.

I don't believe in God myself (more likely that we are gods), but I asked my gf if she thinks God is a man or a woman. She said "probably a man."

<< sweet jesus, how many times are we going to have to sift through these god surveys? Think of something new to talk about. >>

Why do you click on them to read them? And then why do you click on the "Reply" link?
Don't like it? Don't read it, don't reply to it.

To answer the thread topic: Yup, I'm a believer.

<< Mohammed and Buddha may not appear to be gods but they are revered and idolized as such. >>

One of the important points in the Islamic faith is Mohammed's very clear statement that he was not in any way, shape or form a god or part of a god himself. Merely a man who was chosen to be God's last prophet on this planet.

That said - a God? No. Maybe when I'm older and afraid of death I'll consider it so I don't worry as much about what comes next, but if you ask me now I'll tell you it's just an easily-believed colourful story that lets people sleep easier at night.

ask me if i think there is a "god" and i will say no

people imagine these "gods" because we are sentient beings and we cant accept that we are just another animal that evolved out of primordial goo

eventually the human race may become "godlike" through millions of years of technical evolution

btw: i was raised roman catholic and go to church every sunday just to make my parents happy but i refused to be confiremed into the church because i realized i had been forced the church all my life

(also i would agree that one thread on religion is more that enough)

We're already "godlike" - we have the capability to destroy the world with our weapons. We can destroy life, we can choose our destinies.

Yes, in accordance with my religion. One God who does not descriminate in any way including what religion you are. As a matter of fact, I don't think God cares about "religion"; it's just that man needs "religion" to make connecting with God much easier.

Humans can not create life, nor do they understand even 1% of what is going on in this universe.

The abilty to destruct is trivial.

<< The safest thing is not deny it either way...Hell, I don't rule out that Aliens could exist >>

We are simply unsure about it. More people act like God exists than act Aliens exist.

I do not understand how someone could even attempt to make sense of this world and all that exists in it without God being at least somehow a part of it.

That's a pretty strong argument for God. Things tend to destroy themselves, not create themselves.

Ah, but it's also a pretty strong argument for aliens from another universe.

Gods remain a figment of the imagination until we've found evidence of their existance.
