Yep.

<< is it true that the price differences has to be $10 or more between the item u bought and the one u are pricematching AMEX? That means if I bought a DVD movie at $15 at BB, and later I found it cost $10 at somewhere else, they won't pricematch it because it's only $5 difference? AM I right? >>

Is there a way to check if the claim fax went through OK? I suppose I can call them, but was wondering if an automated check existed.

Thanks.

The only way is to call them...it's a good idea to call sometimes and check up because if there is any problem you can resolve it with them on the phone and make sure it goes through.

Thanks for the deal. I picked up the next to last one at my local BBY last night.

Anyone else planning to wait out the 60 days for the PM? I'm figuring the drive should be sub $150 by the end of May, making this one sweet a$$ deal.

What was the verdict on the new PM rules anyway? If we make a purchase before May 1, can we PM multiple times? Or can we only PM up until May 1 and then only once after? I'd like to wait to PM, but I don't want to risk not getting anything if they get wierd about it for some reason.

With the new rules, it sounds like after May 1, you can only PM once per item. No grandfathering of old purchases, etc. As far as PMing this say on 4/30, then trying it again after May 1, who knows. They may say forget it.

With hard drives, the prices generally go consistently downward, so I'm just going to wait it out until late May.

My concern is if they find some reason not to PM these drives, I will run out of return time before I PM. For 10-20 dollars, it's not worth the risk to me. Plus I want the money before my wife sees the CC bill arrive.

SCRacer, you are wrong for two reasons:
1. BB has a shorter term for allowing pricematches (i forget if its 14 or 30 days) and Amex's is 60. So, if you wait a month, BB's pricematching policy expires and your item regains coverage by AMEX PM policy.
2. BB does not PM online vendors, AMEX does, also granting your item Amex PM coverage.

<< If you read the fine print on the AMEX Blue agreement, it says "Any item purchased from a store that already has an established lowest price gurantee program will not be covered" Additionally, the agreement states the other exclusions apply and there's a complete list of items not covered. since Best Buy does have a price-match policy...does this mean AMEX considers purchases from BB as not "covered." Again from the AMEX Blue agreement, "If you see a covered item advertised in print for less within 60 days of the purchase date, we'll refund the difference to your account, up to $250." i'm reading this from the agreement i just got in the mail last week. i got a Blue card just for this reason, but i'm not going to jump on a supposed deal if i'm not sure i'll get my money back. is this one of those YMMV areas? if anyone has gotten this to work...please post >>

Anyone able to give any ratings on the reliability of this drive? A guy at work is telling me that any drive over 80 Gigs will give me problems and die young.

And he knows that these new 120 GB drives will die young because he has experience with these brand new drives dying young? Bah.

Yeah. Sounds like this guy is talking out of his a$$. Common problem these days it seems with "guys at work" who tell you stuff.

As far as the PM goes, I'm sure we all now know that Blue will cease to support the BVG program after 5/1. It sounds like you simply have to make the purchase before 5/1 and then you still have your 60 days to price match(even if it's beyond the 5/1 date). Can anyone verify this?

Sent my BVG PM in today. I haven't done one in a while. How long is Amex taking to mail the checks out/deny the PM these days? (The lady said up to 2 weeks.) Do they call or mail if/when they deny it? Just an imatient person wondering........

so what pricewatch store are people using to PM this drive to? i found $171 on PW just now but the site lists $190 so its some kind of PriceWatch special price i guess. does that fly with Amex PM'ing??

also, with the new PM policies "1 PM item" etc, what happens if you get a denial on your PM? can you submit another one, since the first was denied, or is it 1 try win or lose? seems risky to PM an OEM model if we only have 1 try.

It just a little more than a screwdriver to set this as a second drive (not much though). The jumper that was referred to was a small jumper that will be on the drive (along with numerous others) that will probably be set to M (master). Assuming that you already have a hard disk and want to set this one as a secondary drive then move the jumper to S (secondary).

Several assumptions.
Your machine is of relatively recent vintage (old machines WILL work but you will probably not get the full capacity from the drive).
You have 2 IDE channels on your PC
Because of the number of permutations (4) that are available in this scenario it can be a bit of a pain if you haven't done it before.
Think of it like this each channel will support 1 master and 1 slave. Therefore you have to play around with the jumbers to satisfy this need.

Do a search on the Web and you will find lots of sites offering more detailed explanations.

If your current HD is of low capacity then you might want to consider copying your entire hard disk from this to the new HD and then making the new HD the "boot" HD and discarding the original HD.

You don't have to reinstall the OS to do this. I use Partition Magic and duplicate in very short order.

i bought a drive yest after work @ BB but have yet to do the PM... if it doesn't work out, i can just return it unopened within 30days... i would suggest picking one up and trying the pm, but not using it until you get a verification on your PM.

Is it me or are their no references to Price Matching on the AMEX website?

And scanned and saw their BVG program is ending in May, where does that leave us with AMEX Blue?

Got my claim number from AmEx...will be faxing it maybe tomorrow afternoon....

This is the first time I am doing a PM with AmEx though I've had the card a long time.....if I can find my CompUSA receipt and return my $99.99 80G 5400rpm using AmEx's return policy, that would be a sweet near-free upgrade
