Oh and here's a good card reader to go along with it - link

Reads 12 types of cards, including CompactFlash, runs off USB power, supports hi-speed USB 2.0, looks cool, works great. Win XP (also w2k it says) recognizes it automatically, no drivers needed (I've only used it with Win XP). Costs $19 shipped. It's quite small and fast. I really like mine.

Wow, that is very hot. I may have to get one to go with my new Digital Rebel, 128MB just isn't enough...

I just wanted to note that you may want to be careful with this particular brand of compact flash. I'm not sure if it applies to this particular model, but in the past, Sandisk has had the normal kind as well as the Ultra Fast kind to entice customers. But based on tests, it turned out the normal Sandisk sticks were ultra slow and the Ultra Fast line was the same as most other brands' normal line. HTH

I'm betting that anyone who jumps on this deal is buying it for the cost per mb and not the transfer speed.

Then why wouldn't they get a regular Viking or Kingston 512MB for ~$50?

Does anyone know more about the speed of this card?
Was the slow Ultra that Quixotic was talking about the first Ultra's, and not the Ultra II?
Would this make any difference in the time before I can take another pic on a Canon S410, vs. a Viking CF?

Edit - doesn't seem to be that much difference between this and the regulars. What's another .2-.3MB/sec? Would that be noticable?

If you check the new tests/ reviews you'll conform that the ultra II line is one of the fastest cards available. If you are looking for speed (especially read speed), this is the card.

Personally I think its too much for 512, but whenever someone posts links to prices like this, Newegg jacks up the price every time. Its currently at $79 now on Newegg.

You can get it cheaper from zipzoomfly.com for $75.25 with free shipping.

EDIT: I guess I should look at the dates, I see this was originally posted a month ago. Sorry about that.
But still, the price should go down, not up.
