That $25 off coupon for Software and Peripherals also seems to work with this deal. It'll let you add it to the cart. Whether or not it'll let you check out with it is another question but usually if you can add it to the cart you can get out the door with it.

just a note so people are careful.. in many cases, the same pc is much cheaper in the small business section....a lot of people out there have home based businesses. Also, it seems kind of unfair that home users get charged more for the same setup...

it does cheaper but in small business there is a tax on the price. so it came up pretty much the same.
i did try this one comparing the small business, home and education, turns out home has a better deal (no tax) on the final price.

JumpOnDeals - Earlier today, I ordered basically the same 8200 system that you configured less the monitor and speakers for $580 shipped using the $75.00 coupon , $200 off and $130 credit for removing Office XP small business from the small business division. For the $400 difference, i can get a nice 19" monitor or 15" LCD and no waiting for rebates

Can anyone else get the 8200 from the Small Business section into their cart for $710 like Getreal did ($580 + $130 for the Office XP Small Business)???

What $75 coupon did you use? There isn't any coupon under small business for desktops?

I think the $75 coupon he's talking about is the one found in the mailers that were sent to certain customers.

But I still can't get the 8200 down to $710 in the Small business section (and then call in to have the XP removed for $130 credit to bring it down to $580)?

Has anyone else been able to do this?

Here's how far I get:

1039 (40 gb harddrive, modem, nic card, 48x cd-rom; includes Palm m105)
-200
-------
839
-75 mailer coupon
-------
$764

Even with another $130 off, this brings it down to $634 (not including another $50 bucks in tax).

Help us out GetReal!!

I got it down to $849.00 - $130.00 Office XP Sm Biz = $719.00. I don't have the $75 coupon, but if you did, this would bring it down to around $644.00.

8200: 1.7 P4, 128MB, 64 MB GF2 MX, 40GB ATA/100, Win ME, 10/100 NIC, 48x CD, Integrated Audio, Palm M105.

What I'm wondering, can you also have Dell remove the OS (no WinME or whatever)? That might save some $$ too. Has anyone actually done this w/ Dell?

DealMonkey and my prices, including the $200 off, are from the Small Business section, not Home...

Start by going to Dell Small Biz

Desktops | Dimension | 8200

Minimize everything. Remember to remove the APC Surge Protector on the 2nd page.

You should be down to $769. Some people (so lucky!) have these $75 coupons. Which brings it down to $694.00. If you save your cart, call Dell on the phone, and tell them to remove MS Office XP Small Biz from your system, you apparantly get a $130 credit. Which would bring it down to $564.00.

Thanks DealMonkey!

I'm assuming you asked about removing the operating system for more credit. Yay or Nay??

I just called Dell Small Business Division. They told me that removing Office XP is possible, but will not affect the price at all. In the Dell Home Division, you can of course, remove Office XP (or replace it w/ MS Works) for a substantial discount.

Which is kinda screwy all by itself. Basically, they're forcing you to take Office XP in the Sm Biz Div. The sales rep did mention that he would be willing to apply a $50 coupon (that has to be input on his end, NOT via the online cart), so that's pretty cool.

I also found out that you cannot unbundle Windows XP (or any other flavor). They force you to take some kind of Windows and will not unbundle it in either Home Div or Sm Biz Div. I kinda figured that would happen.

One last thing, I queried about tomorrow's upcoming promotion. My sales rep mentioned that it was "Free double memory" - but he wasn't sure if the free shipping would continue or not. So, order today and get a free Palm M105 or wait until tomorrow when you can get free double memory. Personally, I think the Palm is a better deal.

Good luck!

I agree DealMonkey that today's deal with free shipping and free Palm m105 is a better deal than tomorrow's free double memory and possibly free shipping.

I'm guessing you can get $100 for the Palm m105 and memory can be purchased elsewhere for cheaper than what Dell charges you.

If there is a double memory deal, wait for that. Remember these RDRAM systems, not the cheap sdram stuff. Also, about that 25 "coupon" on top of the rebate....the rebate was actually 100 dollars a coupla days ago., so the difference is minimal.

This deal is pretty hot as is, but if they doubled the rdram, this would be incredible.

Edit-well if they discontinued the palm and shipping tomorrow, i guess its better to order today.

I just called and placed my order and can confirm what DealMonkey said about getting no credit for removing Office XP.

I am curious how GetReal ordered his through the Small Business and received a $130 credit...

???

Confused/inexperienced CSR??

I agree that free double memory for the 8200 is a good deal.

I decided I'd wait on ordering because 512MB RDRAM for the price of 256 is worth more to me than the Palm M105. I was just going to flea-bay it anyway. Probably get $80-100 if you auctioned the M105.

By the way, the Dell CSR that I spoke with didn't say that free shipping was ending. He just wasn't sure. It's entirely possible that the free shipping promotion may continue.

It's a tough call, but I probably will wait a bit since this isn't really an X-mas present. Plus the new P4 + DDR chipset is supposed to be available Monday 12-17. There's a possibility Dell might start selling systems with the 845D pretty soon here...
