Found this one at gotapex but noticed it hadn't been mentioned here.
Has anybody done this? Any comments?

Done the Deal; got the money; cancelled the card.

Basically just sign-up for the card; get approved; activate the card (call 800 # from home phone). Then later call and cancel. Takes about 6 wks to get check after activating card.

I did the deal with plans to cancel soon as I got the money. I have to say I have been very pleased with wingspan and am going to keep the card for a little while anyway (mainly because of the 5% off at certain online stores - inclucing amazon).

you should call first usa (the credit card issuer) and get a "product change", changing the wingspan card to a yahoo visa. The yahoo visa gives the 5% online discount PLUS every dollar you charge accumulates yahoo points (equivalent to about 1% back in GCs or merchandise)_

there is no additional credit app involved , they just change the afilitaion of the card///

I tried to change my card to a buy.com card and FirstUSA told me I need to apply for the buy.com First USA card. Don't count on switching card types. Then again I may have talked with a bad CSR.

i have switched "product" affiliations at first usa, it does totally depend on the csr as it involves some work on their part...if they are stupid or dont feel like doing it theyll tell u it cant be done

I would sign up but for some reason, I get hounded by other credit card companies when I sign up for one. It sucks to have good credit sometimes.

i signed up through gomez.com, got approved for 4000$, activated, got my check in about 6 weeks, kept the card cuz i now can pay my tuition w/ that card...=)

I just maxed out my (First USA), GE Rewards card at $140!

Now I've got to find another "rewards" type card. I was looking at this Wingspan VISA deal.

Has it turned out to be a good card for you?
How is the "5% Off" handled?
Have you dealt with their customer service? If so, how was that?

I'm going to miss my 10% MC, Geeks discount But the $75 should help make up for that.

applied for the card, got rebate after 2 months. i like it, clean online site, customer service is a tad above avg for me.

5% off is great, it just shows up as an instant rebate at the end of every months bill. no gcs to redeem, or waiting for a year like discover.

Done this long time ago.
I thought I would cancel the card after I get my reward, but I ended up keep it for all my online purchases.
Why? Because it has 5% rebate on some major online stores ....... Amazon, Outpost ... great deal

Ok i signed up and was accepted. Do they give me something to send in to get the free $75 dollars when I get my card or is there something else I need to do. I might Xfer a balance off another card for the 1.9% interest for 5 months, then xfer it back and get low apr for xfering it back. I know it sounds chessy but it saves some money.
