That's a used cpu, not sure how comfortable I am with that. You can also pick up the same cpu for $37 at newegg.com

<< think replacing my 750 duron with a 750 t-bird will do me any good? >>

why not jump to 1 GHz T-Bird? They're reasonably affordable. If the rest of your system is "high-performance," i.e. plenty of PC133 RAM, a nice video card, and 7200 rpm hard drive, then the 1 GHz T-Bird would be a nice addition for certain applications (i.e. games or A/V encoding).

Spanky,
yes you will see a noticable difference

I swapped my duron with an athlon and at the same speed the athlon was about 15% faster in all benchmarks, probaly due to the larger onboard cache.

close the L1 bridges and crank that puppy up to 850-900 mhz

I am on the fence on this one. I was going to purchase a New Duron 750 today here in town (TCWO.com is 2 miles from where I work.) for $48.00 w/ a HSF for a cheapie 4th system. The TBird at geeks is going to run me $46.00 Shipped 2nd Day but, I will need to track down a HSF.... The little 150W power supply in my MicroATX case isn't on AMD's Approved list, does that matter?? Sounds like a good deal but, this bothers me:

I havenever ordered from geeks before... is that really the deal..... 5 Days???

Yep, I order from them quiet often, and I can tell you if you need this thing quickly, DO NOT BOTHER WITH THEM! From the time I order, to the day I receive the package, there's usually a 10-11 day gap (I live in NYC).

Otherwise, they're pretty reliable. I haven't got anything from them that wouldn't work as advertised.

it probably means, used, didn't OC worth a damn

My guess is a corporate upgrade, no overclocking at all, so probably pretty good shape. If it lasts 30 days, it will last 3 years. Unless you heat sink falls off, but then Egay it What to do with a burnt CPU

Ohhhhh, a 15% difference - amazing stuff there..

Do yoursleves some favors and chill out on the upgrade/overclocking bonanza. Do it once a year...maybe.. You'll get a lot more for your money..

I think many people buy dead CPU to swap out a similar cpu at their work. Not really something a moral person will do but a lot of people are doing it.

If you want to overclock, look for any AXIA. If you don't, get a 950 Tbird. Best Price for $. I'm taking a duron out of my sis's compaq, and throwin the Bird in there.

Thanks for Pointing that Out... I just checked PW and TCWO is selling a Duron 850 for $41.00, they list them on their website or $50. That is a much better deal. I can get it for $50.00 w/ HSF no shipping. I can just pick it up.
