Wreckage, I dont know if you realize that the Geforce 7600GT they compare against the 1800XT are the XXX version and that means the highest overclock these cards can handle, now an 6800GS overclocked at max (515mhz) can beat the 7600GT. Dont get me wrong Im not against Nvidia or with ATI, but I cant believe that Nvidia is making the same mistake ATI did with their 1600XT series using 128bit instead of 256bit(6800GS) everybody nows that 256 its needed to achieve AA and AF, so I guess 7600GT its gonna lack of AA and AF performance. Maybe Nvidia has some trick for us in the future of their 7600 line that also its priced from 200$ and above. I also dont support the 1800XT because those specs should achieve a higher performance than the ones that are shown.

What?

The GeForce 7600 GT easily outperformed the GeForce 6800 GS in all our tests. Whether it was a shader model 3.0 test or not, OpenGL vs Direct3D, AA or no AA, even in HDR testing the GeForce 7600 GT came out ahead of the GeForce 6800 GS.
Granted they were probably testing against a 6800GS at stock speeds but looks like the 7600GT can OC like mad too. Or at least the card they received could, with significant gains.

From their results the 7600GT even managed to outperform a X1800GTO in some cases, and is priced lower to boot.

ATI tried to throw a curveball at NVIDIA with the Radeon X1800 GTO, but based on our testing, it looks like the GeForce 7600 GT knocked them out of the park, as the X1800 GTO doesn?t have a clear performance advantage in comparison to the 7600 GT, in fact it?s outrun by the NVIDIA card in most of our benchmarks. On top of this, the X1800 GTO costs more and doesn?t have a dongle-less CrossFire solution.
This looks like a great card for the price to me.

AT's review shows it outperforming the 6800 GS as well.

Actually, a 128 bit interface to memory running at 2x the clock speed of a 256 bit interface will give you the same total bandwidth and very comprable latency. Nothing requires a 256 bit interface for AA and AF, total bandwidth is the only thing that matters.

If you look at benchmarks, the 7600 is a complete animal for what is destined to be: a mid $100s mainstream card to replace the wildly successful 6600GT. It utterly dominates the X1600XT, never mind the X1600Pro. Sometimes by a factor of 2. Which just goes to show you -- 22 Gb/sec memory bandwidth is good enough for mainstream gaming. 4 pipes, not so much.

In fact, the 7600GT is comprable to the X1800GTO in terms of performance. More evidence that at the low end, you don't need 32 Gb/sec bandwidth yet.

so ure saying that raising to 1000mhz the core clock with a 128 bit memory interface its the same as having 256bit? why should somebody do that if they can get a 256bit interface?? (ull need a lot of cooling right there or shrinking the chips) u said total bandwith is what matters so again isnt better 32gb/sec than 22gb/sec??
U said u dont need 32Gb/sec yet but if u can have it for the same price wouldnt u think about it? 22 to 32gb its gonna be a performance raise anyways. U also said the 7600 is a complete animal for what is ment to be a mid 100$ well my friend the cheapest 7600GT is 184$ and keep going up to 229$ for the highest clock (the 7600GT can only be overclocked to 600mhz the stock clock is 560)
Also the 256bit interface easily outperforms the 128bit in texture managing and most of the actual games had tons of them.

7600GT is something i have been waiting for quite some time. All the features of 7900GTX, but enough performance for 1024X768 games with 4X AA & 8X Anis, & a killer price, how bad can 128bit interface can be. Remember 6600GT was beating the 6800nU even with lower memory interface in few cases, also it's not like 7600GT won't run with AA just cos it as 128bit interface.

We have another cash cow for nvidia in the market now, a perfectly balenced graphics card, which is even lower on power\heat then 6600GT (said by nvidia)

now if only they could release an AGP version just like 6600GT AGP, the whole mainstream market will be almost theirs
