when im playing battlefield 1942 or halo it goes up to 77 C. is this okay for the high end card?
way too hot...mine only gets up to about 55 C under load, even when highly overclocked. Not overclocked, it hovers around 47-50 C.

77 in gaming does sound quite hot as my 6800U doesn't usually go above 78.

My 6800nu idles around 63 to 65.....the hottest I've seen it is in the low 70s.....but that's jumping out of a game and then looking at temps in the NVidia CP.

Not way too hot... it's normal for a 6800GT with stock cooling.

Don't trust the Nvidia monitor temperature, it's a glitch that will be fixed in the next driver update.

But he doesn't have a 6800GT. So, like the OP asked, yes it's a little hot for a 6800NU. Is it too hot, period? That's debatable... it's never a bad idea to get a better cooler though.
OP, judging from your last post, your temps are more acceptable now.
Yes but the 6800 is clocked a lot lower. It also has a beefier heatsink than his 6800...
