Water blocking has no relevance in this thread - I also WB - It has nothing to do with the Money one spends for a Flagship Card. For the Money spent on a Flagship card I expect Hynix or Samsung and definitely NOT stagnated 1500Mhz Elpida and Card MFGr's should be held responsible for this or at least list Batch #'s corresponding as to the type of vRam used.

Sorry about asking about waterblocks. Didn't mean to thread crash. Back on topic, I agree that I would be miffed if the memory for a Classified was Elpida. However, my card has Hynix so I doubt I have a serious problem. Were any Classified GTX780's produced with Elpida or is this merely a rumor?

And to say the least, considering the money spent, it should not be the consumer to bare the luck of the draw when it comes to the type of vRam on a Flagship Card.

I'm sure out of 16783 posts you're bound to find a Classified owner who got Elpida, like Lightnings there was a time when there was nothing else available to use. However I haven't heard of anyone getting anything lower than Hynix recently and even FTW cards are coming with Samsung.

Im guessing the Lightning LE version i got comes with the cheaper VRAM given that i paid nearly 75GBP per card less than the normal Lightning.

Had i purchased the Classified or normal Lightning then it would have been shipped back.
