7800 GTX screen flicker

Has anyone run into an occassional "black screen flicker" while playing games such as Wow? Every so often, completely random, a frame or two appears to be a completely black screen. I've checked all my drivers, reinstalled Wow and other games, and made sure everything was properly connected. Nothing is overclocked in the box. It's really disheartening to have a brand new card not working the way it should.

Anyone experience anything like this?

what brand did you buy? isn't that because the card is overclocked too high? a few companies like bfg overclock their cards...

I haven't had that problem but do have another issue. My card is making some odd noise that sounds like a sort of muffled machine gun going off constantly whenever I'm playing a game. Reminds me of the capacitor problem on some of the 5900's :/

the card it self is making the noise or its ocming thru your speakesr?

I think I figured it out (just in case anyone runs into this) the black flicker seems to be caused by nTune. I noticed when opening nTune the screen blinked rapidly black several times. I've uninstalled nTune and everything seemed to go back to normal.

I'm going to test now with Warcraft (where I was seeing the issue most). Hopefully it's resolved (when you pay this kind of cash for a card, you want it to work. ).

If that doesn't fix your problem, turn off your machine, unplug your DVI and plug it into the other DVI port, then see how that goes for you.

Is your fan hitting something?

So what brand is your 7800 GTX?

It's coming from the card and no the fan isn't hitting anything. If I pop in another card it goes away. Card works fine but I've spent a lot to make my pc's quiet so it's rather annoying

Wait... I shouldn't be plugging my cable into port 1 of the card?
