best OC 495/1230
ONE eVGA 7800GT mind u.
3DMARK Score= 8076 or somewhere in that range
dont know the temps for it though, cant find 1 that monitors the temp of the GPU.

One important thing I've found recently is that it is best to run the "auto detect" when your video card is running some sort of 3D program so that it is stressed. The auto detect feature gives different clocks depending on the temperature. When I ran auto detect when my card was under load, it came out with 495/1.18 (53 C) rather than 510/1200 which is what I got when it was idle (38 C).

dont know the temps for it though, cant find 1 that monitors the temp of the GPU.

There's a temp monitoring tab that included with Forceware drivers . . . (it's right about "Refresh Rate Overrides")

for some reason, when i go to all programs, my forceware folder is empty

Well...
been reading this for 10min.
And overclocking my EVGA 7800GT (aluminum heatsink)
I've reached a clock of...

518MHZ CORE
1.24GHZ

Ran 3dmark06--->woot..i crashed...lol

ill find my lower clock which was 513 and 1.22

I used Nibitor2.6 and NVflash to raise core voltage to 1.5V successfully for my Gainward 7800GT. Auto detect gave me at stock volt 460/1116. I couldn't go over 470, test would not pass in Rivatuner. After volt mod auto detect gives 484/1165 but this is with artifacts in 3DMark06 SM3 tests (Canyon and Deep Freeze). Before mod I could get 460/1183 stable without artifacts in 3DMark06, result ~4350. After mod 470/1202 (result ~4420) with couple of artifacts in SM3 tests but sometimes no artifacts at all. Core temp (Rivatuner) jumped from 57C to 60C max during tests. Cooling with Zalman VF700Cu. Volt mod did not give huge improvements but I did not excpect that either.

I noticed that Nibitor2.6 informs core to be 400 MHz + 40 MHz, memory 1000 MHz at default. What does that mean? When measuring with Rivatuner core freq. is 513/459/459 for Geom/ROP/Shader domains when set to 470 with Rivatuner. Also noticed that 3DMark06 reports different core freq when submitted my results on their website.

So, I ask, which frequency should be seen as "core" frequency? nVidia driver/Rivatuner or 3DMark06?

Edit: Found the answer, should have made better search: 400 + 40 is basic core clock + delta geom. clock i.e. clock freq. increases with 40 MHz steps, same for other domains but with different steps.

coolbits detected at 507/1.2, so i put 493/1.15 to be safe. 8048 05 and 4005 in 06, i'm going to OC the memory to 1.2 and my opteron 144 to 2.6 (currently at 2.4) when i get home since my CPU is really holding back my 06 score

the eVGA CO cooler, it's very nice

When looking into bioses of couple of manufacturers for 7800GT I noticed that in some of them geom. delta is set to 0. E.g. eVGA CO with 470 core/550 memory (look at this bios
with Nibitor2.6). I hope this is not the way they are able to advertise higher clock rates?

I got my N518 EVGA 7800GT to 504MHz core/1.19GHz memory using autodetect with Coolbits. I'm too lazy to mess with it any further.

I have a EVGA 7800GT model # 256-P2-N516AX have processor now running @ stock speeds (was o/c @ 2.7 till crash..lol) went into Coolbits and hit auto detect and got a core clock @510 MHZ and mem clock @1.18 GHZ.. I then ran 3DMark 05 and hit 8062 w/1024x768 ... GPU temps-42c and cpu temps-25c right after running 3DMark.

I have a 7800GT E515 with the latest Bios, my MAX "rock solid - trough - every game" overclock is 475Mhz for the core and 1140 Mhz for the memory.

I know my 7800GT, the E515, is the worst overclocker of all, I'll sell it on Ebay today.

Also, from what I've been reading, I think many of you have unstable vidcards running on your system, some of you hit the Coolbits 2.0 auto detect feature to find out the MAX stable settings for your card...that's not serious, 90% times Coolbits will be wrong,I mean, nearly always tends to set higher than stable parameters for both the Core and Mem and your card may pass the 3DMARK test and get a higher result but I am 99% sure that is not truly stable. Go play more than 3 different games for 1 hour each and tell me if it's stable...

STABLE: 0 artifacts, no random freezing, no long lags, no screen corruptions, no little dots!!

Who cares about 3DMARK scores..MANY of you who report those scores only want to pass succesfully the 3DMARK test with unstable settings to get a higher score for stupid competition!!

You cannot find your card's max stable settings in 5 mins, or one hour, or one day, you need more time....and many people here is reporting results with an overclock achieved in 5 seconds....BULLSHIT!!!

Overclocking needs FIRMNESS, PATIENCE AND HONESTY!!
