The fact is, nVidia & ATi are raking in cash from video card sales.
If you actually believe it's costing them double to make the 7800s over the TIs, i'd like some of whatever it is you're smoking.
The sick thing is how i can see it only continuing, which frustrates me.
If nVidia was the only company making video cards, it'd be another story. It's not though. I know no one will agree with me, but i somewhat think that nVidia & ATi are working together to raise prices gradually. Since they are pretty much the only choices...why not?
It used to be $5000 to buy a good PC system.
Then of course, prices dropped drastically...& now they are going up again...or the high end is anyway.
It seems the gap between the cheap word processing system & the gaming system is becoming massive...& i dislike that
Yeah, it's the gap between the "rich" and the "poor" PC's so to speak. On one hand, you can get a good, basic machine with monitor for $300 (or less), but as soon as you want anything more, it's gonna cost ya
I would never buy anything at the top end though. I look for the "sweet spot" of high end. Thus, my 6800GT cost me $350 and gave me most of the performance of a 6800Ultra, which I was certainly happy with.
