7800GTX SLI obtained, launch party was a blast!

I really enjoyed the G70 launch party in San Francisco.

1. The tech demos were amazing- watching G70 SLI run Unreal 3, Unreal Tournament 2007, Battlefield 2, and Huxley on the big screen real time was awesome.

2. The re-vamped shaders were a total (pleasant) surprise.

3. More profiles and 6600SLI support a nice bonus as well.

So I obtained two 7800GTXs, benches of single and double to come. With a 19X14 cap on my monitor, I don't think I'll be able to stress these bad boys at this point in time.

(but I'm looking forward to trying!)

LOL- no such luck on winning them, although I did see a guy win a computer with one in it. (and the case mod winners may have got them?)

You will have benches soon, as Rudee notes, the are some others out there to review in the meantime.

yeah, I actually just graduated a month ago and luckily I only have about 12K in student loans left!!! which I think it pretty good compared to MANY I have see lol.

best to just dump the entire system. too much of a headache to upgrade part by part. atleast thats what im doing.

You have to pick up Battlefield 2, I got my copy yesterday.. SO fun and PERFECT for those beautys..

Dude, I'm still gaming away happily with my A XP 3200+ and BFG 6800GT @ 420/1100. Until I find a game I can't run smooth at a decent res (so far decent has been 1680x1050) then I will continue. Maybe at Christmas I will go for an all-out upgrade or a little after that but for now I am all about the A XP loving

That being said I can't wait for more benchies on the new cards!

Dude, I'm still gaming away happily with my A XP 3200+ and BFG 6800GT @ 420/1100. Until I find a game I can't run smooth at a decent res (so far decent has been 1680x1050) then I will continue. Maybe at Christmas I will go for an all-out upgrade or a little after that but for now I am all about the A XP loving

Yeah, most games still run pretty well at 1680x1050 and I probably could wait longer to upgrade. It really depends on whether or not I can sell my 6800GT for a decent price, I guess. (well that, and how well R520/"7800 Ultra" do )

Thing is, is 1920x1200 is over 25% larger than 1680x1050. So the performance is needed.

Yep. I don't think I want to drop the money on a 2405FPW anyways though, since I'm happy with my 2005FPW and I'd need more expensive video cards to run 1920x1200 anyways.

my next upgrade is a $300 PS3.... will do 1920x1080p at 60 FPS with all eye-candy that not even a $5,000 SLI monster can touch!

Once the Xbox 360 and PS3 are heare... PC gaming is history!
Just do the math and you will see that dropping $1200 for an SLI setup is not worth it.. even nvidia said the PS3 graphics will surpass 2 Ultra SLI setup...for what... $300!
And do not wory for FPS games... PS3 or Xbox can have a keyboard and a mouse... heck my moded Xbox is running Gentoox (linux) for like 2 years with a USB mouse and keyboard !
