I have one stick of PC100 ValueRAM and it works fine, although I'm not overclocking.

is the ValueRAM suck? I heard it does CL2 fine, but not sure about overclocking. about the same price as Crucial since they don't have the free shipping at Buy.com anymore.

bah, I wrong
Some sticks of ValueRAM used to have Nanya chips on them, which were suck. Now I guess Kingston only deals with Infineon which is definitely some good stuff.

Not to crap on a thread, but why would you buy this when Crucial 256MB PC133 CAS2 is running $89 with free shipping (plus tax)?

If you added the $10 off coupon (for new customers only) it'd make this a very sweet deal.

I have the same RAM in my machine right now, I have it running at CL2 and it works very well.

I'm just troubled by the fact that you guys would think Kingston Ram have a remote chance of being 'suck' as some of you put it. Maybe Crucial Rams are more popular in the overclockers sector, but Kingston rams are way more popular in the real sector. In fact, Kingston owns 40% of the overall memory market. If people think that it 'sucks' it will not own 40% of the market. How much does Crucial own?

You can argue that the chips on there is Differnt, but that is the past tense!

I'm not trying to flame someone, the point I'm trying to make is that, KINSTON rams are very well built, and the company itself if very well represented. I just hope I can change someone's impression of Kingston memories with my post.

I have used Kingston ram of various speed, from PC66 to PC133. I have always been able to overclock them (PC66 to 100, 100 to 133) and currently on some cheesy motherboard, I have the PC133 valueram running at CAS2 no problems whatsoever...

Like someone else posted, if you have the $10 off, then this becomes a damn good deal.

What the hell is wrong with you people? Suck is a VERB! Since when did it become "cool" to pretend you are an immigrant with no ability to use the native language? Did this all come from that weird ALL OF YOUR BASES ARE BELONG TO US video?
Anyway, your underwear is showing and at $89.24 shipped, the CAS2 Crucial is a much better deal because it is not suck and if you are belong to CAS3, the Crucial is $84 shipped.

Worms, I have to agree with you. The intentional misuse of our language is beyond belief. I know many people that are new to this country and one thing that most of them pride themselves on is mastering the English language. In this case, we have people who presumably know the language, but choose to butcher it on purpose because it sounds "cool." I can assure you that it does not sound cool at all.

While we're on the (off) topic of intentional misuse of the
English language, can SOMEONE please explain to me the origin
of the expression "my bad". Is this from some foreign-made
cartoon or something?????

"Is suck" is not said to knock someone, but a former member of AT used to say that and it became popular. That's why people use it here, though I don't like it.

I used to remember ripridah saying "Staples is suck!"

There was a time Staples was really pissing a lot of people cuz of pricing errors and wrong CC charges but now it has come out to be the best bargain in town...cuz VA is gone; ODs 155% guarantee is history and Buy.com coupons are unavailable.

Hope it last, but all good things must come to an end. There are reports or hearsay I might say of Staples ending their Price Matching this May. No!!!!!
...but until then, Staples is not Suck!

How good the Kingston Ram is depends on what chips that use.

In the past, Kingston has used

Infineon = As good if not better than Crucial.
Samsung & Hitachi = Maybe a little worse than crucial but still good.
Nanya and IBM = Might as well return it unless you don't plan on overclocking.

But in all cases, they should run at specifications. Crucial is probably in general, better quality tho. Crucial also has less market share than kingston because they are the on-line only subsidiary of Micron and only use Micron chips. I think they are also a relatively new company (only a couple of years or so). This is not gospel just my understanding of things from my browsing of this forum.

so, what's the verdict on Kingston ValueRAM? are they Infineon chips or something less? these are the aftermarket sticks that Dell sells (DellWare) for expanding the memory in their desktop systems as a cheaper (but still stable) alternative to their OEM memory.
