Ex-gf saw the prices of Air-Tran from NY to Williamsburg, VA at $64, one way. Seems she heard that I have access to a condo (my parent's) and the winters can get so cold up there...

WTF, Jetblue doesn't service Chicago? We have O'hare airport, the busiest airport in the world.

It's an airline. They used to call themselves something else, but a couple years ago they burned and crashed one of their airplanes (and passengers) in florida after improperly labelling/shipping O2 cannisters, so they changed their name so that people would forget about it. I guess it kinda worked.

A lot of misinformation here.

JetBlue is NOT the airline that had a plane crash and reinvented itself: That is AirTran, which was formerly ValuJet (and had a crash in the Florida everglades).

JetBlue is a brand new, and profitable, airline that has all leather seats, digital TV at every seat, and only flies carefully selected routes. I've flown it twice and love it. They're a discount carrier, so no meals on longer flights, but it's a much more comfortable way to fly. They are adding new routes all the time, but it's by no means a "national" carrier yet.

yeah, they are great.

i flew cali to ny last year and the flight was good, especially with tv to watch (and for the geek factor, one of the stations that is on their tv's shows a map with the position, speed, and altitude of the plane. it was cool to glance at it once in a while)

Actually AirTran was in business before the ValuJet crash. They took over many of the gates (ATL), routes, and aircraft that were ValuJet's. Some of the players may have been the same, but they were completely seperate company's.

Their fleet of airplanes are only 2 or 3 years old . Each seat has its own video screen, and they don't serve food.
I was going to go to New York 9-29-2001 but had to cancel on 9-11. :brokenheart: They had the same deal back then too.

I just booked a trip to Las Vegas from NY (JFK) for 99 bucks (One Way). Pretty good deal as far as price, but I'll soon see how good they really are quality wise.

I fly to NY about once every two months on JetBlue. They are very good, seats are very comfortable w/ FREE TV to watch. People are nice, and not a lot of delays from the shedule. Pilot skills are not bad either for landing..

I've had horror experiences with United & American for "maintaince wait delays".

Yeah, it's also one of the most expensive airports to get a license out of too. If anything, jetBlue would fly out of Midway.

i love jetblue, i flew to and back from buffalo NY for 50 each way after tax,

I love their service, they leave on time, get there on time or early.

A very fresh and new approach on beverage service. no cart

1st time: the flight attendent takes drink orders before take off, the comes around with a tray and serves everyone.
2nd time: they came around with a tray with cans of stuff and just passed them out, they'd come around another time with cups of ice in case you wanted.

Both times were really fast tho.

Comfortable seats and the TV is great. The planes are in very good condition cosmetically. AND the planes are PACKED. I didnt see a single empty seat.

They fly to buffalo 5 times a day~!

I love Jetblue. I fly the NY JFK to Long Beach, CA route every 3-4 months. I go to NYU but home is in LA. Seats are more comfortable, TV at each seat. They give u snacks and drinks. But sometimes peopel bring their own food aboard and it stinks! Curry!

Jetblue is relatively new, all new airplanes...

During the Airline crash that affected every carrier JETBLUE was the ONLY carrier to make money.

They do this by increasing legroom (less seats), making the seats leather, free TV for each seat, good service, and few delasy.

They get these few delays by looking at a busy area..say NYC..and instead of flying out of JFK they fly out of the nearest "BIG" airport...the logic is that..it's still close to the Big, important centers but the licensing is much much much cheaper, and there are little to no delays..

So its sort of like getting all the anemiites for free

Not sure exactly what you are talking about. If you are talking about the everglades crash, that was in '96. Or are you talking about the queens crash in '01? Regardless, Jetblue didnt launch until 2000. With only a handful of cherry picked routes at the time of the latter it's not hard to make money. Also, Southwest has been profitable for over 30 years straight, by far the best of any carrier.

In Sept Jet Blue provided 5 million passenger itineraries to a defense contractor for proof-of-concept testing of a Pentagon project unrelated to airline security -- with help from the Transportation Security Administration."

JetBlue Shared Passenger Data

Not only did this violate JetBlue's stated privacy policy, and probably federal law as well, it wasn't even connected to airline security or "preventing terrorism."

Army Admits Using JetBlue Data
Millions of JetBlue passenger records were used in a military effort whose methods closely resemble those employed in the notorious Terrorism Information Awareness überdatabase program, the Army confirmed Monday.

Europe Fights U.S. Over Passenger Data
In an example of the privacy issues raised by the Bush administration's aggressive stance on airline security, the American airline JetBlue Airways acknowledged on Friday that it had provided the Pentagon with information on more than one million of its passengers, as part of a program to track down terrorists and other "high risk" passengers.

Those records, which were turned over in violation of the airline's own privacy policies, were then used to identify the passengers' Social Security numbers, financial histories and occupations.

Privacy rule was violated by JetBlue
JetBlue, a three-year-old discount airline, sent an e-mail message to passengers this week, conceding that it had made a mistake in providing the records last year to Torch Concepts, an Army contractor in Huntsville, Ala., for a research project on ?airline passenger risk assessment.?

?This was a mistake on our part, and I know you and many of our customers feel betrayed by it,? said David Neeleman, JetBlue?s chief executive, in an e-mail message that the airline, based in New York, said was sent to about 150 passengers who had written in so far to complain.

Senators Want More Info on JetBlue Data Disclosures
The chairman of the U.S. Senate Governmental Affairs Committee has sent a letter of inquiry to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld seeking to determine if the Dept. of Defense complied with Privacy Act requirements when an information-mining contractor working for the U.S. Army acquired the names, addresses, phone numbers, and itineraries of more than one million JetBlue passengers.

A Pentagon spokesman has stated that Torch Concepts was performing work for the Army on how personal data could be used to improve security at defense bases. The Privacy Act makes agencies responsible for ensuring that contractors comply with the law's terms when establishing a system of records on the agency's behalf.

"We note that a spokesman for the Army reportedly asserted that the Army never had access to the passenger records collected by Torch Concepts, and that therefore it did not expect to find any privacy violations of its own," the letter states. "However, the Privacy Act applies to contractors working for the federal government, and the Act's criminal penalties apply to employees of the contractor as if they were employees of the federal government.
