7900gt fan won't quiet down

my eVGA 7900GT-CO fan was initially throttled down upon entering Windows XP, UNTIL I flashed the latest BIOS 12.07 on it, which was found on the eVGA website. can anyone else confirm this? it seems like eVGA claims this new bios fixes certain things, but it definately broke my fan speed. now I have 100% fan speed at all times! which is really loud and annoying. I tried changing my video drivers but that didn't work. Does anyone have the old BIOS that I can try flashing back?

So when you use a program like riva tuner and put the fan speed down, it still stays the same?

yup. Riva tuner doesn't do anything for me. I read the instructions on how to turn down the fanspeed on another website - but it didn't do anything for me. Fan PWM stays at 100%. I definately think the BIOS screwed it up. Also, another weird thing that tells me it's not a software issue: in Riva tuner, when I try to set the fan speed to anything between 0 and 100%, and press save, the speed slider immediately jumps to 0. If i slide the bar all the way to full speed, it will remain at 100%. So I can't pick any intermediate value.

does anyone have the older 14.03 BIOS? or what about the BIOS that Mario (guy at eVGA) is mailing out? I heard from at least 1 person that his new BIOS fixed the fan issue.
