I don't think I did the memory mod right. I can't even get 1700 out of the memory and still get artifacts. I'll go back and draw another U around the resistor. Problem is I have Watercooling, and SLI and it'll be kinda hard to get the bottom card. Hopefully the resistor is near the edge of the card.

Otherwise, the 1.4 vgpu mod works great. Asides from me incorectly doing the memory (or not doing it enough) I got 640mhz on the core.

Also, has anyone felt their memory heatsinks? Seems they get a little hot (at least I think they get hot).

And I don't have a multimeter on hand right now.

Then I don't know how you expect to do the memory mod. I don't think it's a good idea to guess with how much pencil lead to apply to the card.

If you don't have to a multimeter, you can make a simple voltage-detecting device using a magnetic compass and fine gauge wire. Get a length of wire about two feet long. Remove several inches of insulation from both ends of the wire. Wind the wire tightly around a magnetic compass. Try to keep the wire coil together, so the compass face is not completely covered. You might want to secure the windings with a section of tape. It's better than nothing.

Not cool bro.

How much voltage did you feed it? Be honest.

For anyone wondering, the mosfets kinda get hot. I put on some copper bga sinks just in case.

OK, after further testing I had to back off the speeds a bit. My final speeds are 715 core / 1920 memory. This is ATITool and 100% Oblivion stable. Good enough for me I think.

RMA'ing a card you destroyed is not cool.

But covered under warranty, nonetheless.

u sure about that?

evgas warrenty clearly states physical damage isnt covered...

conductive pen = physical damage imo

It's unethical, but not impossible. Conductive pen comes off with rubbing alcohol. There would be no visible evidence of tampering.

Exactly. Clean off the trace and there's no proof of tampering.

No it isnt, if i knew the brand of card, i wouldve already reported it.

Agreed. Though it's sad these scam artists can probably get away with this, it sucks. It raises the price for the rest of us, and it's just an example of having no sense of fair play. People take a risk when overclocking, that's what makes it fun, and if they push it too far it's their own responsibility.

WOW!

8947 in 3dmark05 on the stock cooler, no volt mod. All I did was the auto detect for OCing. I need to do this volt mod and see what this baby can do!

3Dmark 2006 runs fine at 675 / 900. But games will crash after a while and do genraly bad things when I ALT+TAB out of them sometimes.

Im playing it safe at 550 / 850 right now. I plan on buing a multimeter to see if I'm getting the voltage I think im getting. More ram sinks may be on my shoping list too.

Update:

-Volt moded memory

-Ran ATITool to test for artifacts and was error free for over an hour at 645 / 985. ALT+TAB issues were less frequent but still would produce a crash situation.

ALT + TAB Example with DX9 game: Can tab out and in a several times without issues but would eventually cause the monitor to flash on and off at ~1 second intervals with brief periods of no keyboard or mouse response. Once this happened I was able to clock the card back to defaults but that changed did not seem to help the computer to return to stability. I had to hit the reset button.

As long as I did not ALT + TAB to desktop the test game ran flawlessly.

How come my memory in Coolbits only goes up to 900mhz (1800mhz)?
Can I get it to go higher?
