Damnit....166 is a no go...it reboots when I run pcmark2002...i tried setting mem by spd...still no go...vcore up to 1.85v...no go...i think i hit the limit on my cpu...right now i lowered back down to 160...vcore 1.85v...mem setting 2-3-3-6...haven't run prime95 yet...gonna run 3dmark2001se tonight...i tired playing counterstrike but it crash to destop...error...i think that is due to over heating on the memory from my video card...
thugsrook...what mem setting are you using for your corsair? shouldn't it be able to do 2-2-2-5 @160 or 166?

SupermanCK are you using turbo1 mode? looks like thats as far as your going if youre outta voltage. dont use more than 1.85v applied.
i have the Corsair running @ Cas2226 2.5v just fine all the way upto 178fsb.

TheLizardMan sorry i was just teasin ya the package date on the box is the info wed need to know. chips dated after 3/18/02 are overclocking very well.

and i have the corsair 512mb pc2700 c2 v1.1...is that what you have?
edit] turbo1 setting i believe...i will double check tonight...

Quick question guys.. I was planning to get the ASUS P4B533 - 845E. How does this MOBO compare with the P4B266??? Can I get similar overclocking results as you guys. I'm planning to use this with 2 X 512MB PC2700 Samsung and a 1.8 Northwood. Thanks for the help all.

SupermanCK i think the bios just shows a generic 2336. sandra testing shows it to actually be 2226. you can set it yourself or use By SPD, it dont matter. test in sandra to find out.

WannabeDJ the P4B533 looks like a really nice board. dont know how well it runs tho.

I have a stick of 512MB Samsung PC2700 CAS 2.5, and by SPD, it shows as 2-3-3-6 too. But Sandra reads it as ECC-DDR SDRAM, so what is really my RAM

the only way i know of to figure it out.....

run sandra memory test with memory set By SPD.
then run sandra memory test with memory set to Cas2336.
then run sandra memory test with memory set to Cas2226.

see which result matches the By SPD result. thats your real By SPD setting.

looks good - but AGP 256 is a waste of time.
just set it on 64 for a 64mb card or 128 for a 128mb card.
test all 3 settings before choosing the best/fastest one.

i just ordered a VT GF4 ti4400

anyone have info on cooling this puppy?
is stock fan ok?
does AS2 help any?
does a Crystal Orb help any?
does a fan blowing on the card help any?
anyone try the thermaltake cooling solution yet?

1) not on that exact card.
2) for ti4600 speeds yes, anything over that you might want to look into some extra cooling
3) you would need artic silver epoxy
4) that heatsink is a joke
5) Yes, but not that much. I guess anything could help
6) No

Id say to get some artic silver epoxy and a low profile P4 or AMD heatsink. Epoxy that fan on and see how high you can get it. Depending on if you OC the core of memory that is what youll need to cool down.

This is some cooling i did to my GF2 GTS. Later i put on a low profile p4 fan with epoxy. But it wouldnt go any higher. My gf3 ti200 128mb will do ti500 speeds with the stock heatsink. The performance you will gain with a killer videocard heatsink wont warrant the cost of the heatsink. but it sure would look bad ass.

well, im not gonna epoxy anything
i have an old fat soc7 heatsink sitting here. i might just drill out some bolt holes so i can mount it on there. ill have to see how well stock does w/ some AS2 1st.

i happen to like my crystal orb - it got me 5mhz core over a Blorb

Thugs, the stock HS/Fan on the 4400 is very good. A C-ORB would be a downgrade. Maybe put in some AS instead of the stock stuff. What is your maximum stable overclock? The 175 FSB?

yea 175fsb.
im not gonna bother stress testing 176fsb cause i already know its gonna take another 0.06v (1.88v) to make it 100% stable - and i aint interested in running that much voltage at that many mhz with that much heat

175fsb is fine by me
