Tech Report - This has a look at the Gigabyte board and BIOS.
Legitreviews - Looks at the Asus board, provides power saving figures of 25w in idle 19w under load.

....More added as they arrive.

This looks like a winner with Biostar's board selling as low as $99 at launch up to a more expensive $150 price point. Cool things: SB750 (of course) , Sideport memory being utilized for more than just games, but video decoding aswell among other things and Price. I'll probably wait until Deneb to make the most of the SB750, but an excellent chipset nonetheless. What do the rest of you think?

EDIT: Overdrive 2.1.2 is official up for download on AMD's site, this should bring full 790GX support which means ACC adjustment among other things.

I received the Gigabyte board a couple days ago (it was listed at Newegg early on the 4th). I won't be putting it together for a while though...

Interestingly, there are some slides in a thread on XS that state that the DFI board can go Hybrid Crossfire with a 3850...here. Now that would be awesome for me . Even if it doesn't turn out to be true, I think I'll wait for the DFI to come into stock or perhaps hear more about the other boards. Let us know how you get on MikeODanyurs!

EDIT: Updated OP with link to latest Overdrive which means SB750 ACC support.

Thanks for the new AOD download - I've been waiting (and looking for it) for weeks now ...

I'm going to check it out on my MSI 790FX and 9600BE and see if it brings any thing to the table ...

(LAPPED) AMD X2 5000+ Black Edition @ 3315mhz (255x13). Wow, Sylvanus! That's a great overclock for an AMD CPU! I think AMD is heading in the right direction making smart decisions with their new 45nm Phenoms and the new overclocking-friendly southbridge.

@ FalseChristian: Indeed, SB750 is a very nice edition .

@JPB: Nice find, Asus seems to be the 2nd 790FX board out in the wild with an SB750- the first being the Foxconn board. Nice low profile cooling.

@DarkManX4lf: As MikeODanyurs said, Biostar and DFI have these boards planned- Here is some info on the DFI.

Yea, the M3A79-T DELUXE looks like a carbon copy of the 790FX M3A32-MVP. I have read that.... it's an excellent board.

So that means the M3A79-T Deluxe can only be that much better, since it has the SB750GX.

:thumbsup::thumbsup: to ASUS

Here is some info regarding the Asus M3A78-T. The manual states that the GFX clock engine is defaulted at 500, shouldn't it be 700?
Also, there is a ACC option in the bios with the Asus, but there isn't one with the Gigabyte (which manual states the GFX engine is default at 650, but in the bios it shows 700 but I don't think it actually does 700 unless you manually type 700 in).
Can ACC be done with OverDrive 2.1.2 only?

I would assume you need OverDrive 2.1.2 as that's what
seems to be implied (as far as I can determin) in post
#1 of this thread...

ZZF was the only place I could find the MSI board and they are selling it for $170....why such a high price ?

This seems to be a very STRANGE rollout of the new 790GX & SB750

chipset mobos ! I'm guessing that we will have to wait till Xmas to see

any great prices with rebates .

Why are most of the new mobos NOT on the market yet ???

As Sylvanas posted on the first post, Biostar TA790GX A2+ for $99.99 which is definitely a awesome deal for a 790GX. You can expect price/perfrmance to be really attractive. My opinion is this is one of the bang for bucks in the market. There will be more models available within two weeks

I was going to get a Gigabyte 780G refresh board (the newer one with the sideport memory), but now that the 790GX is out, is there any reason to get a 780G?

Also, I have a question about the sideport memory. From the AT preview:
"Sideport Memory returns energetically in the 790GX products, this time at the request of AMD. While an option on the 780G boards, AMD has persuaded the motherboard suppliers to include sideport memory in at least one 790GX product from their lineups. Along with this inclusion comes a new name, Performance Cache. The performance cache resides on a 16-bit memory interface that can utilize DDR2 or DDR3 memory. The majority of motherboard makers will use DDR3-1333 in a 128MB configuration. While performance between DDR2 and DDR3 is about the same in this particular application, DDR3 offers additional power savings."

If SidePort uses a 16-bit memory interface, how in the world can that speed anything up? Regular DRAM is DDR2 with a 128-bit interface, is it not? How can a 16-bit memory interface compete and even exceed that? I just don't get it.

Btw, where are the micro-ATX 790GX boards? All four showing at NewEgg are all regular ATX mobos.
