Confirmed. My Sapphire Vapor-X is not voltage locked.Sapphire cards are also unlocked. At least the ones I was considering, just got one shipped today.
Considering the Galaxy is only spec'd to do 1085, that means getting 1200 is just as much luck of the draw.
Confirmed. My Sapphire Vapor-X is not voltage locked.

I have the MSI 670 and it works pretty good for the games I play. I still sometimes get "driver stopped responding" in WoW but after googling it doesn't appear to be limited to either brand, just adapting old code to accomodate newer DX.
That said I originally went in to buy a 7950 but MC was out of stock, so I scooped a 670 for $75 more. I regretted it at first, but after plugging it in and using it I stopped caring. I sold the bundled codes for about $68 after fees so really a $300 purchase for me. Would have been about $250 (after selling games) for the 7950 so I won't cry too much. But I still wonder how the 7950 would have performed... I play at 2560x1440 so the 3gb would have been nice, but I doubt the 7950 would get me a huge difference in quality where that becomes a factor.
I've been debating switching back to 1920x1200 as I don't think the increased resolution is "all that". But there is a clear performance difference between the two resolutions. A good example is SC2 cut scenes (not the pre-rendered ones)... I near double the performance switching resolutions.
Looks like a nice card. I wonder if there are any High ASIC quality cards being made right now. Seems like a lot of the newer cards are lower ASIC quality with higher stock volts. They can still clock very high, just need more volts to do it.
Has anyone ever actually found a direct correlation between reported asic quality and any type of performance parameter? I know what GPUz says, higher asic = less voltage/lower overall O/C, lower asic = more voltage/higher overall O/C, but has anyone actually proven this?
It is a video card, not a vacation home on beachfront property.
Thanks guys.. Im feeling like throwing in the towel. I'm probably just gonna send this back and hold out until summer or next year. I really wanted to go Nvidia, but it looks too much like the tides have turned and I would be sorry in the long run.
I will watch and see if AMD can really do a great job from here on out.
Eh, what?
You do realize you've just landed in a sea of nerds like us who quibble endlessly over microscopic percentages?
The differences between 7950/670, OC, no OC, etc, are absolutely miniscule in the big picture.
Both will let you enjoy any game on the market with the right settings, basically everything maxed at 1080p in most titles, and only *slightly* dialed back in a few games.
You already have the 670, enjoy it.
If you already had the 7950, I'd say the exact same thing. Mailing something in, waiting, hassling, etc, is enough of my time that I don't think $60 is worth it.
