Thank, but looking at current games Nvidia will have to do something.. I suspect the will just launch a new line. Which means I will once again be left with hardware that isn't quite up to snuff (ala 5850 filtering). I don't wanna get stuck into this situation again.
Is there some current game that a 670 or a 7950 can't easily play at 1080p with settings max or near-max?
No.
So there you go. This is an incredibly silly proposition. You also would have the exact same imaginary issue with any future card. They will be viable for a certain amount of time, then they will start to become outdated, and then finally be virtually useless for gaming. That's just how it is.
Do you want to play games decently now? Keep the 670, or get a 7950.
Are you willing to wait another half year or so? Then maybe wait. But remember, some generations truly suck in terms of 'improvement'. See : 5870 to 6950/6970. That was worthless. Or even 480 to 580, moderate improvement, but nothing that made the move that appealing. 6970 to 7970 was absolutely massive, and so was 580 to 680 by comparison.
