7950 Reference Card Not detected?

Good Day;


I have a Sapphire 7950 reference card that sudden stopped working. The fan rotates but that is it. I inspected the card and found no burn or damaged marks.

Does any know a method to be used to find out the reason?

It's generally impossible for consumers w/o the EE background to trace the failure point. If it up and suddenly dies, it could be anything, most likely related to the ports. Have you tried other ports first?

That said, a last resort is to bake the card in the hopes that after years of use any broken solder will reflow bringing the card back to life.

I think I know what is the problem. Some transistors are missing.

It's likely those pads are left blank on purpose, because it's a 7950 card instead of the full-fledged 7970, and doesn't need the extra circuitry.

Do you have a picture of the other side? If you see no signs of catastrophic failure, like scorch marks where capacitors or resistors have been blown apart, or swollen/leaking capacitors, then maybe you just have an issue that might be solved by baking the card to reflow the solder. If you have no other options, such as RMA, then a last-ditch effort would be to bake the card. Baking resurrected one of my 7950s successfully.
