building a new computer.please suggest which GPU can take full load at max settings and please specify what those settings are

Should be able to play the best games, for example:

Crysis 2
Battlefield 3
Rage
Metro 2033
Dirt 3
Batman Arkham City
Skyrim

Also other features like:

GPU acceleration
Dual Display
3D

Questions:

1)does gtx 580 not do dual display as i have heard it needs SLI?

2)is the gap between CUDA and App that big, hasn't 7970 done any better?

3)who does better 3D and what are 3D tech's involved like passive and active? - i might buy passive 3d display from lg

Very few applications use OpenCL, CUDA is the way to go for most GPU accelerated task.

also doesn't 580 not do dual display?

You need SLI for 3+ displays on NVIDIA cards currently I think. Everybody's been able to do dual displays for a long time.

NVIDIA's 3D tech seems more mature from what I've seen, though it may change at some point down the road. I'm not even sure if NVIDIA's stuff will work with non-active 3D (heard that somewhere, not sure if accurate or not), hopefully someone can confirm that it will work before you spend any money on it.

can you tell me how?
You specifically cited 3D as a feature you want. Nvidia's 3D support is much more mature, although AMD has made progress here. I personally don't have much interest in the tech, but if you must have it, go Nvidia.

Any card will do at least dual displays.

What resolution will you be running? What kind of GPU acceleration will you be doing?

1) Dual display can be done from any of those cards easily. Triple display can only be done by 580's in SLI, or by any single 6970 or 7970.

2) 7970 is quite a bit faster on the GPGPU front than its predecessors, but there are still not many applications written for it.

3) It's generally accepted that nvidia has more mature 3d support.

I'm not sure you really need that 3GB 580 linked earlier, i think the standard 1.5GB would do you just fine if you went the 580 route.

i will need 3gb as i think thats required for dual display or triple,i think

for GPU acceleration,i would use it for encoding.i don't know of other tasks for

If you don't plan to dedicate a lot of time to GPU accelerated content, then the 7970 is your best choice without a doubt.

Well....

7970: ~25-30% faster than a 580. ~549$ (~16% more price(than 580) for ~25%-30% perf)
580: ~9-14% faster than a 6970. ~470$ (~47% more price (than 6970) for ~9%-14% perf)
6970: ~320$

The best value out of those 3 cards, is actually the 6970.

The 580, seems like bad value considering it costs like 47% more than a 6970, but only gains you 9-14% performance.

The 7970 is just expensive... but its the fastest card on the market, and its price vs 580, makes it look like good value (simply because the 580 isnt).

1) it can do 2 monitors... but not 3 without a 2nd card.

2) the 7970 crushes the 580 when it comes to GPGPU compute power, but it cannot do CUDA stuff.

3) Both are about equal, though probably slight edge to nvidia (at a higher price).

with LG that would be like : ~LG-D2342P (comes with 3D glasses) (their 299$ on newegg atm)
http://www.lg.com/ca_en/business/products/monitors/led-monitors/LG-D2342P.jsp

and a 3D driver from: http://www.ddd.com/ or http://www.iz3d.com/

I think both iZ3D and DDD have free trail uses, and then to buy it, its ~49$.

for GPU acceleration,i would use it for encoding.
plenty of programs that can do that, via gpu acceleration, without useing CUDA.
So that doesnt have to be a decideing factor for you.
