Where I'm originally from in southeastern CT yes, that will close at least the high schools. Now, in Rochester, NY...no way in hell. Last time they canceled school here it was because of the 2 inches of solid ice on everything.

I still don't know why everyone runs out and buys milk & bread right before a snow storm.

8" in the north east or midwest? No.
In Vegas? Hell yes. The city is simply not equipped or trained to handle that kind of snow.

We had 8'' of snow (in some parts) of Las Vegas yesterday. The school district decided to cancel school day, the first time in nearly 30 years. Seeing the jerk faces who go 85mph on the freeways drive 35mph was interesting. When a city as a whole has no idea how to deal with weather like that, the results can be entertaining.
Now, a question for all of you midwest and east coast people....how bad does the weather have to be for school to be canceled?

Unless two feet of snow gets shit out of the sky at 5AM, we have school.
