You don't have to buy into the notion that the past is the past and that you should just accept it. She made a big mistake by telling you such information. Most people will usually not reveal that due to this occuring. Now, that she did tell you, if you find it repulsive, then there is noting wrong with that. The people who say that it just shows your insecurity are full of it. You can have high standards just like women do when looking for a particular kind of guy who looks a particular way and has a particular persona.

Agreed. To some it matter some it does not.

To me it does. My girl (31 years old) I am only her 2nd. I will probable marry her as we gte along and I know she has high standards and is a good person. But I would never date a woman that has slept around.

Also the double standard seems to be slowy eroding. I know a lot of girls that also would not see a guy that has been around, so it can go both ways now.

But everybody has "THEIR" standards.

8 really isnt a bad number for the generation. I know girls who have had 17. i think 5 is normal but circumstances happen and 8 can occur. Get tested if clean then clean. See how she has sex with u. does she do it to do it or does she do it cause she likes you. and not just oh your cute. but actually likes your attitude. Sorry but if you are 19 and already slept with 6 guys, you got problems. And yes as I and others have said, some women even have standards and will not date a guy that has been with a lot fo people. So the double standard is not holding to strong with time.

To all those people who think that you shouldn't think much about a person's past, I would never hire you for my HR department if I own a company. You ever wonder why employers look at your background and work history. You ever wonder why lenders check your credit before giving you the go ahead to purchase that nice car or dream home.

While past behavior may not dictate future behavior, it is the best gauge you have at your disposal. When you look for a serious relationship, you bet sexual history is important. Each relationship becomes an investment. You don't want a liability. When you come across someone with lots of partners within a short span of time (men or women), red flags should be raised.

1. Is this person capable of committing to one person?
2. Can you satisfy this person's libido enough so he/she doesn't move on to someone else?
3. If he/she was in committed relationships before, why did they deteriorate so soon?
4. How does this person value marriage?

The fact of the matter is people have varying standards. Let them deal with it in their own manner. Just as long as all the pertinent information are provided. Be honest and make it known up front. In case of the OP, the girl did the right thing (assumption) and told him the truth. The ball is in his court.

What is tiresome about ATOT is that when someone expressed any notion of "prudeness", it's not uncommon for the conglomerate to label him brainwashed and what a f*cktard he is. I don't know whether it's because there is a sizable anti-religious population here or that people get overly offended when perceived that someone else has a higher standard than theirs or that there is a growing need to legitimize and defend one's past behavior.

Whoa. She does not have more experience at relationships. I've been in two one year relationships, a two year, and a three year. She's never dated anyone more than three months. Thats what my problem is. If she loved all those guys, i wouldn't have a problem with it, but its the fact that that many really cheapens the experience and makes it less special, and I don't think I can respect that view. Not that I condemn her, but its just hard for me to respect her. It isn't an intimidation thing. For all of her numbers she is still pretty inexperienced. When you're with someone a long time you try a lot more things and get a little crazier. She's never been like that, just with a lot of people. It creeps me out.
