I was in the market for an upgrade and saw this. It's a simple unmanaged 8 port Gigabit switch. My review:

Nice steel outer case, sturdy rugged feel
has lights on the front and ports on the front (not the best in my opinion)
works fine.

I have a couple of systems in the house that have GigE adapters, so this makes transfers really fast between those systems. You really won't see the benefit for internet connections, but if you are like me and have a central server for video and audio files, this is the way to go for transfering files to that system.

You can also get a 5 port at microcenter for $15 after rebate. It has a lesser feature set though.

Most importantly, does it support Jumbo Frame? That makes or breaks the deal. The only inexpensive 8 port i know of that does, is the SMC.

It's reported to support jumbo frames of 6k, but the person didn't know if it was the Nic or Router that couldn't handle 9k. The chipset the switch uses works to 9k though, so that's a good sign.

I've been reading a bit about jumbo frames and unless your entire network is gigabit, its pointless. Like for me, I have a network printer, an an xbox and neither can be upgraded to gigabit.

I plan to run laptops and 10/100 devices off the switch built into my Linksys WRT54G, then use this switch for the heavy hitters (ala. jumbopackets) and plug it into the Linksys. This place has gigabit nic's that supports jumbo packets for under $12 shipped. Then go here for some cheap Cat6 cables.
