Can't PM when the store you originally bought item from already has low-price guarantee program. Yet AMEX is pretty lenient at times so YMMV.

You can PM with Amex once that store's low-price guarantee period has expired. I believe Amex's policy allows 60 days, whereas Best Buy and most other stores allow 30 days.

Also BB does not PM with internet company, so AMEX would accept the PM as long as you are using an online store to do it with.

My local Circuit City B&M (Bakersfield,Ca) has WD 80gb hard drives (7200) tagged on the shelf at $149.00, plus there's a $40.00 gift card. The ad shows a price of 199.00 for some reason but the shelf price is marked $149.00 here. Online is also coming up at $199.00.

With a Best Buy pricematch plus their $75.00 rebate, the drive will cost $75.00 plus tax. This is also great for AmEx retail off the shelf price to price match.

Anyone else catch this?

You think you can take a photo of the shelf tag and post it? That would be a valid Amex PM! Thanks in advance to anyone who goes through the trouble!

Thanks MaryJo, that'd help out alot. As far as the 132 link, it says wd800BB without the rtl, so it may not count.

So exactly what is the process needed to pm using amex. Do I fax them the info or do I email, which is best. What the number to fax or what the email to email, do I have to talk to someone. If I don't what all info do I need to give them.

Thanks.

If you get BB to PM the CC price, you won't need AmEx.

can AMEX really PM another store's (CC) scanned receipt? their BVG policy seems to only PM if you have the item advertised from another store in print....

<< Best Value Guarantee:
With the Best Value Guarantee, you'll pay the lowest price available on items purchased with the Card. If you see a covered item advertised in print for less than you paid within 60 days of the purchase date, we'll refund the difference to you, up to $250 per item.

I just got back from the W. Paterson, NJ Best Buy and I was successful in getting them to pricematch Circuit City. I paid $149.99 out the door. I purchased the drive from Circuit City and used the receipt as proof. I will return the drive back to Circuit City tomorrow. $75+tax after rebate is good. The people at the Paramus, NJ Best Buy sucked. They wouldn't do the pricematch. I guess it takes some luck but it can be done.

mikecrof furthermore you can go to Best Buy, pay full price for the same drive. You get a valid Best Buy receipt... photocopy it and use with the $75 rebate that comes out at the register. Return to Best Buy tomorrow and return the drive. Use the UPC off the HD you bought from CompUSA with the Best Buy receipt and rebate.

negative $25 for your harddrive!

I envy you!

Opps.. you got a Maxtor 80GB didn't you? Not Western Digital. Hmm.. you could bring the 80GB Maxtor to CompUSA and tell them you lost the receipt.. trade it for WD.. Nah.. I dunno..

Good deal though on what you did. I tried the CC receipt from California here and was told "NO". I wonder how much my CC is charging for that drive?

RONType1 please keep your nasty comments to yourself. I don't know you and you don't know me. The store clerks around here are ruthless with pricematching. I'd say it is impossible 90% of the time. They always invent policy 'features' to nullify a pricematch. It is their automatic defense. If you read my post correctly.. I was merely only stating a possibility. Nowhere did I state this was ethical or practiced by myself. It is not like I am the only one that thought of this. If a store clerk can invent a method to keep a customer from getting a pricematch, why can't the customer invent a method to circumvent it? I admit, it is taking advantage of Best Buy, but think of how many times they take advantage of the customer (Best Buy Sucks). Some people would do what I said without much thought. I however have always kept within rebate/pricematching parameters.

Just because you know how to make a bomb, doesn't mean you're a terrorist. I don't hate you.

Try the Circuit City method you guys....

I went to Circuit City and bought the drive for $162.35 (I'm in Cali so 8% tax for me) after tax then I went to Best Buys to pricematch it. I successfully pricematched it and during the checkout process they printed out a rebate form and a rebate receipt. All in all you get a 80 Western Digital 7200 rpm drive for $87 including tax after a PM and $75 in rebates. Sweet deal guys this is going to be perfect for my RAID setup.

Well I just got back from a little run into town. Went to circuit city, sure enough they had the drive for $149. picked one up, and then headed to best buy were they had 3 left. well they are now 3 less. got them to pm on 3 drives. so tommorrow I'll return the drive back to CC. I have purchased a single one from BB yesterday, in which I still need them to pm it to the CC one. So after all this I'll have 4 80GB drives for $300 plus taxes if the rebates come back. I'm stoked, raid 5 here I come.
