Everbody check your Best Buys rebate form...does your say that it only needs the sticker from the box and not the UPC? That's what mine says......... If so then you can use the UPC from one of your drives for the Circuit City $40 gift card also.

I just picked up one at Dublin, CA BB...last one. PM w/CC price of $149.99. Asked about the 110% guarantee...mgr said it should come up when they hit the PM key. It didn't, so the cashier asked what to do, mgr said take 10% off subtotal. So after tax, cost was $146. But I also had a $25 GC, so my final total was $121. Plus $75 rebate...Thanks for the HOT DEAL!

I bought 3 but got a seperate receipt for all. Guess gotta send one to moms and one to girlfriends house.

By the way BEST BUYS bitched and moaned and on one said they couldnt give me the printed out rebate receipt. I wasnt eligible for it???I wouldnt move out of the line till the manager came. Told him she wouldnt give me my reciept. I said didnt make a difference all it is is a rebate receipt. I can print one out online.

Circuit city does have them for $149 or $199 with a $40 gift card. Doesnt make any sense. I bought the $149 one and the dam gift receipt still printed out.

too bad i just bought the one at CC to return, I just wanted a receipt, stil lnot a bad price $109 but doesnt beat the Low $70's from BB's

Just got back for BB in Alpharetta, GA. I had almost no problems w/ this deal. I had to ask if they still had the WD 80gb drives and they got one from the case. They did not even start to give me any trouble about the PM w/ CC. The guy said 'No problem' before I finished asking. This is a great deal. Good luck and Good hunting.

Hey, try this. At CCS, our price match policy is that we can price match the price seen on the Best Buy website as well as Best Buy. I know that when customers see a MIR from the Manufacturer, we can give them our price (in this case 149.98) as well as the $40 gift card, then you can get the MIR from the BB website to send in with it. Nowhere does it say you HAVE to purchase from BB to get the MIR. So, here's what you do.

Get it at CCS with the price advertised IN STORE.
Send in the MIR.

Has anyone notice that the on-line rebate only ask for WD Capacity label cut from the front of the box, but doesn't ask for the "UPC" code from the box? So,if a person was so inclined, they could purchase the drive from Circuit City make a copy of the receipt and return the drive to CC, then send in the CC rebate for the $40 gift card using the "UPC" code off the drive they purchased at BB, bringing the final cost of the WD 80gb HD to $35 or $30.
Also OfficeMax will be selling the 80gb WD drive with a $40 rebate starting 3-17, OM $40 rebate, so a person who didn't want a gift card could do it at OM instead of CC.

Go to Best Buy's Rebate center and click on Western Digital then click on the "Western Digital 80GB $75MIR - Expires 03/09/2002" link and click accept to view the rebate. The rebate clearly states

I'm not sure if I'm going to do the CC gift card rebate because the UPC is acutally attached to the label and I don't want to not get my rebate because of a small technicality.

It works in North East Indiana! I just picked up two of these. I went to Circuit City and found the $149 price on the shelf. I then price matched at Best Buy. I didn't have to take the tag off the shelf at Circuit City because I went to BB's "service" center and the lady just called Circuit City to verify my claim. After rebates and gift cards, one will be $35 and one will be $75. (My brother was lucky enough to have GC at the right time. He sure got a deal on the one I picked up for him!)

The PM with Circuit City and Best Buy worked in Tallahassee. Didn't get the 110% difference, but went away happy with $149.xx plus tax less $75 rebate. No problems with the PM - customer service called Circuit City and confirmed price (I checked before I went to make sure Circuit City had them in stock). Rebate forms printed out with purchase as well as rebate receipts. Thanks for the deal! (My first successful PM)

the officemax rebate probably wont work because if its officemax specific it will likely require purchase between 3/17 and some later date. the best buy rebate requires purchase between 3/3 and 3/9

can anyone scan in this wd capacity label/upc so we can all determine if its possible to split the two to get both the $75 rebate and $40 gift card?

Someone at FW called the rebate hotline and they said that both the capacity label and UPC is required to get the rebate. There goes your chance for a scam. Besides, they check sale numbers to make sure that the product wasn't returned.
