Not all CC stores are running this deal. I called 2 different stores, one had the drive for $149, the other for $199 with a $40 gc. I'm going to take the number for the store with it on sale with me tonight if BB has any left in stock.

Update
The Best Buys here will only pricematch the closest store. Make sure the store CC near your BB has it on sale.

Hey all

If you want to get in on this deal, you better move! CC are selling out and BB is calling to check if they have it in stock around here!

Anyway, back to getting that server up and running again!

I just got the deal at my local Best Buy. All I gave them was the copy of the tag, they didn't even call CC. Thanks Mary Jo! Mine will end up $87 after rebate. $1.09 a gig doesn't seem so bad

Just got mine today. Used the copy of the price tag from this thread and they asked me where I got it. I told them that I was just at CC and they copied this tag for me. They went ahead and priced matched at 110% and the rebate printed out. I had to go across town to find a BB with them in stock. I had been waiting for a good deal like this. Thanks guys, keep up the good work!!

I don't know about ~50 after pm and Rebate but I do know about 82.48 after pm/rebate and tax. Very good deal, I had to hide the last one on the shelf because they wouldn?t price match the first time, but I returned with a printout of the shelf sticker and went through with only a little hesitance.

I just got back from Best Buy.

They looked at the scanned copy of the price tag at the register and did the pricematch for me. I said 10% of the difference so they were $144.99 each. The register popped out 2 rebate forms and rebate receipts so that answers my question about more than 1 rebate per household. The girl smurked when both rebate receipts popped out and said she would be right back. She went to her manager to try and eliminate the deal, but it didn't work. She came back and said, "Hmm, looks like you lucked out because there is a $75.00 rebate for each drive. I smiled and said "That's why I'm buying them here".

So, thanks for the deal.

NOW TO SET UP MY 160GB RAID ARRAY, MUHHHAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAAA!!

Quick question: doesnt compusa have a 80gb wd drive on sale for 129-30mir=99? I think the product number has an A instead of a B, but if you could get BB to PM this, wouldnt it only be 55 after MIR?

That's not going to work because you are PMing two DIFFERENT products.

the compusa drive is a 5400 rpm drive. the best buy drive is 7200 rpm, they will have different model numbers. if you catch someone who is not tech savvy it may work with printed ad.

Ahh I did not see that they were different RPMS....my bad. Sometimes companies use different product #s for identical products though as a way to prevent PMs. Thank ya!

finally, after two days I managed to stumble on a Best Buy employee who did the price match without giving me the "ours is cheapier after rebate" speech. Woohoo, score one for me.

Just went to Best Buy was able to get the CSR to PM with CC. But they wouldn't give me the rebate form. They said that the rebate center wouldn't honor it when they see that a PM has been done.
So I had them void the whole thing I figure I'll try PM using AMEX. Safer in terms of the rebate...
just my 2 cents.

I went to 3 BB (in Houston) before I found one with the drives in stock (after checking that CC here does have them for $149). Then they wouldn't pricematch without an actual advertisement....wouldn't accept the copy of the CC price tag (thanks for posting it though MaryJo), the guy in customer service said "anyone could've made this on a computer." Tried it at the cashier too, got the same response. Oh well, maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

They are feeding you a line of BS about the rebate center not honoring it... the Rebate center only cares that you have the documentation. You either get mr company man Best Buy employee or the ones that are cool. You got the Best Buy soldier when you tried... try again.

LOL, that's BS, I can't believe you fell for it. Even when they don't give you the rebates, you can always get them online! So no worries there and what she said about not getting the rebate because of PM was pure BS.

Does any American Express card work?
Also, do I have to print out this website and bring it to them? I never tried this.
Thanks.

The drive I believe you would have to pm is on the next page as this is just the bare drive. Link

Walked in my local BB (Ohio) with a copy of the CC reciept for $149.00. They said they would have to call the California CC to verify. Since that CC was out of stock, they refused to price match. BB looks for excuses to deny price matching, IMHO!

This is what I did:

I bought the drive at Best Buy in West Los Angeles for $199. They still had at least six of them as of 8pm. Then, I drove a mile to the Circuit City in Westwood, CA (where I had already checked online that they had it), and bought it for $149. I got the last one on the shelf.

There was no shelf tag! Which of you took it?

Anyway, then I went back to BB and, by showing them the CC receipt, got my price match plus an additional 10% of the difference, as per their guarantee. Tomorrow, I am going back to CC to return the first drive, because, as I will tell them, I got a better deal at BB. I paid tax on the approximate $144 BB price (after price match +10% of the difference), so my final cost is about $82, after the $75 WD/BB rebate. Not as good as the Amex Blue pricematch, though.

The rebate is good through 3/9, so there is still time. It might be a good idea to call your local CC and BB before making the trip. On the other hand, BB has often misled me about inventory, so a trip to BB might still be in order even if they tell you on the phone that they don't have any.

One extra note: BB CS told me the extra 10% of the difference is given only if you have already bought the product from BB and then you find it cheaper elsewhere. If you price-match at the orginal time of purchase, then they won't give you the extra 10%.

It's not a new rule. Having worked at BB before, the PM policy has always been, match if you buy then, or 110% if you bought there already and come back later stating somewhere else has it cheaper. It's in the fine print and most stores PM is like that. The thing is, most CSRs are dopes so a lot of people can get away with 110% to begin with.
