80 GB 7200 RPM WD for ~$50 after PM and Rebate

I tried to play the "rebate center said I can" card with the customer relations guy on the phone. He told me that the rebate center only deals with the rebates and not BB policy. I'm going to try this again later at another BB, but I have the feeling they'll try and screw me too. The register printed everything out, all they had to do was hand it to me. But noooo, they'd rather throw it in the trash

I think I may try that as a last resort Caveman2001, the "show me where that policy is written" angle. Can you give me the URL where that rebate policy is (the in-store line I mean)?

Print out their policy I linked and bring it with you to the store. There is no legal reason they can prevent you from getting your legal right to the rebate form.

Well I could get the rebate form online, the sticker is the proper reciept. They won't give me the cahsregister printed one, only a hand written one.


Rereading the thread-if I try the buy it normally and return to get the PM, will they take the reciept?

OH OH, I just had an epiphany. The rebate form says send a COPY of the reciept. So I'll buy it, make a photocopy, return to get the PM, and send the copy! I can only hope they will honor the PM knowing about the rebate.

Is there something wrong with me using the printout rebate form and big yellow receipt than the cash register receipt and rebate printout? Would I have better luck with the cash register stuff? I mean, I don't wanna drive over there and have the same employee give the same stupid bull about not getting the rebate. If the rebate center would accept a photocopy of the yellow receipt and the printout online, then I'd just do that.

On a side note, I couldn't believe the idocity of the employee. He's phoning in the price match with circuit city, and uses a screwdriver to point at the drive so he can read the numbers. I didn't mind that, but then he starts tapping on the drive box with the butt end of the screwdriver. Again, I didn't mind that cuz it was just tapping, then he ends up dropping the box on the ground. I'm like, WTF? You don't do that with a customer's merchandise. So I end up walking over and getting another box cuz that idiot can't leave the box on the table.

Well the BB rebate center guy told me I couldn't use the big PM reciept to get the rebate, you'd be risking it.

If you think dropping boxes is bad, be glad you don't know what they do to those things when customers aren't around.

BTW, when does CC $149 deal end? I don't want to go back to get the PM in a couple days to find that the CC deal has ended.

the CC deal ends whenever CC decides to pull it...probably by tonight if not sooner...read the following ...excerpted and modified from the fraud-filled thread that is padlocked(as it should have been way earlier)

Well, I called best buy and gave them the whole schpeel about rebates and such and the fact that Western Digital said I could get the rebate. They gave me the excuse that I'm "double dipping" and that I can't get both the Pricematch and the Rebate. So in essence, it's one or the other, not both. I went over policy with him and he still refused to budge. He just won't give me the original receipt and printed out rebate form. Who's right? I just wanna know if I can get the rebate with an online copy of the rebate form and a copy of this big ugly yellow pricematch receipt.

Ok, I feel better now. I called the Western Digital Rebate Center and got confirmation that no matter what I paid for it, I should get the rebate. I even got the guy's name and employee number. So now I'm gonna send in this crap and get my rebate check. Now, should I send in the information that so-and-so said that I'm eligible for the rebate? or only keep that information for just in case my check is cancelled?

Hey guys, FWIW, I had a BB do this crap to me last summer when then had a deal on a Philps CD burner (another long story in and of itself....), anyway, I bought two at two separate BB stores. The first one was totally cool, no hassle, but the second one was a major pain in the A$$. They too refused to give me either a good rebate form or original receipt. I just sent a copy of that big, ugly yellow PM form (which does have just about all the receipt info on it anyway), and I printed the rebate form from another website. Rebate went through as well as the one with the real receipt and all did.
I mean, bottom line is that you bought this thing and you send the rebate center whatever receipt BB gives you. Worst case scenario I can imagine is that the rebate center asks you for the cash register receipt and you explain to those fockers that the big yellow thing IS the receipt BB gave you. You could show them a CC statement if you HAD to back it up, but I doubt they'd make you do all that.
You'll be fine.

So far I've resisted this deal....don't need another HD....if it was a Maxtor I'd have bitten by now, though!

I've been watching this post and find that some of you are trying to do all at once in BB regarding pricematch and receiving rebate forms. To all that have already done this and didn't get the rebate form, take the thing back and get a refund
buy it back again at BB price thus receiving all 3 pieces of paper receipts then go to customer service and PM only showing your actual receipt.
To others I think you get my idea.
Also why can't you PM if you already bought the drive on a saturday then later saturday see the circuit city ad and then PM at the CC price on Sunday?
policy says if you find a lower price within 30 days of your purchase

Does anyone have a copy of a BB receipt showing PM of CC at $149? The local manager says they won't do it that way, until I can prove otherwise. He says they will only match CC price after rebate are applied.

Geez, this is cracking me up.

Here's a link to my yellow copy receipt for the pricematch. It's hard to see because of the transperancy of the paper, but it's still a copy of the pricematch.

Here's the receipt.

Save this file as a .bmp and open it in a photo editor to print a beutiful copy of a valid priceamatch. Then insert paper into wrotten employee / managers mouth and get your drives.

I can't believe they are giving you guys this much headache over a simple rebate. It's not a double dip either. It's pricematch policy.

Asianricex same thing happened to me. The guy also said double dipping. I talked to the manager and she gave me the rebate form, but god what a b$tch. I had the receipt so i dont know why i bothered should of just printed the rebate form online.

i got 1 from bb at madison, al. there are lots (abt 10) left on the shelf. but now i see that the link on the first post is no more carrying the drive for $125. so does this mean that i cannot pm with amex blue and that i have to return the drive back. ohh!!!

Man, the rebates are usually from the manufacturer, not from the company themselves. BestBuy typically doesn't do the bulk manufacturer rebates but issues their own and has you go through them, but that shouldn't f up the way it works. Maybe the way to do this is to buy a HD and a few cheap floppies and be like "counter b*atch, give me my reciept, I may have to return these floppies if they're defective." Hell, you sometimes need reciepts for RMA and warranty stuff, they're really screwing the customer on this stuff.

They pricematched plus 10% differnce which should of been 10% of $50 difference they gave me $10 off for a pre rebate price of $139.99 at best buy's Rebate printed out for $75. I went back and got 3 more. Guess i gotta use differnet address's. Moms, girlfriends, sister.

There's no limit to the rebate requirments. You don't have to send any rebates to anywhere other than your home.

Awesome, I got to the Madison Heights store earlier this evening and picked up 3, I'll be running 180 gigs, and then I'll give one to my family and probably try to make up some of my expenses by selling the other.
