Amex will let you price match it to a lower retailer for the same price (retail model only) for up to 60 days.... you don't want to wait to send in the rebate though!

The rebate form I got from Best Buy says it must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase. I got mine on 3/8 and I'm mailing it in this week. Finally got a BB to pricematch CC + 10% of the difference, ended up $144.99 + tax ($69.99 AR)....woo hoo!

But if you're going to do the BB/WD rebate from last week, you've got approx. 30 days (depending on purchase date).

A little OT: Does anyone know how long BB or CC will do a pricematch after already purchasing something?

It depends on the product... I think that they only guarentee computer stuff for 14 days at some of those stores.

does anyone else think this hard drive is a little loud? Is there a utility to make it run in a quieter mode? I know in another thread someone mentioned that the Compusa Maxtor drive was in quiet mode. I was just wondering if WD drives support a similar feature?

The Drive is extremely loud... I haven't seen or heard anything of a utility to make it run quiet... Even if such a utility existed you would lose some performance to get it to run in quiet mode.

The noise seems to be the idle of the drive itself, as the disk accesses are actually quieter than the idle noise... I was pretty disappointed by how loud it was myself, as my 30 GB Quantum was very quiet, and all the reviews of this drive pointed out how it wasn't any noisier than the competitors.

If I hadn't gotten such a good deal on it I would return it and spring for the new Maxtor 7200 RPM with fluid bearings... it's quieter at idle than any other drive out there right now.

I got a few of these drives, and I took a quick look at the rebate slips this morning....it says one per eligible product, but does it specify just one per household? Has anybody tried sending in more than 1 rebate to a single household? It would make this much easier, than sending one to school, one home.

These WD's are loud hard drives. Two of my suitemates have them, one 80gb and one 100gb. The Seagate Baracuda is the best noise wise, but you pay for it in performance.

I wish I had jumped on this deal, I was sitting in circuitcity pondering the question for 30 minutes. Poor college student

Hey, I printed off the rebate from Bestbuy's website. For some reason IE doesn't print out the background of webpages(Probably to save ink), but will they accept the rebate form without that bestbuy watermark in the background of the rebate print out? I don't want this rebate rejected for something stupid like that.

I'm not sure I understand... you bought it online from Best Buy? If that's the case then I would think a printout of your receipt would be fine... you should call the rebate folks just to make sure.

OK, just wanted to post and let everyone know that I got my AMEX Blue PM for the $75 and change in just 10 days, so assuming that the mail in rebate comes in over the next few months, final cost of the drive will only be $50

Seeing as how AMEX Blue's price matching rules are changing May 1st to only do web pricematches using print outs on the day of purchase, all those (myself included), who bought this drive and were waiting for a better deal on the AMEX blue price match had better get a move on!

Does anyone know of any good sites for PMs on this drive? Keep in mind it has to be the retail version, model number WD800BBRTL...
