Doug117: Of course you are correct about there being effectively no speed increase in going from ATA100 to 133. However the spec is a useful tool for differentiating between the two most recent series of Maxtor 7200 rpm IDE drives: the newer 740X series (133) and the older DiamondMax 60 series (100).
While the change in ATA level offers no apparent speed advantage, the newer tech. in the 740X drives does result in a fair increase in performance. If you don't believe me, you can look at the reviews at storagereview.com

As it turns out the newer drive does indeed have better performance, even if it does use one bogus feature as a selling point.
