I live about 20 minutes away from their outlett store in IL. I refuse to buy anything from them ever again, even for an AT member. They lie, cheat and steal. Need proof?

howbaout 200 of your fellow AT'ers and Anand?

good enough for ya? Lets not help these cheats. they unlawfully charged 50+ AT members $60 on a phone scam.

I guess you can always file a report with paypal.
I'd say just use a credit card and pay it off with your paypal card.
Atleast with a credit card you can reach them over the phone and not file a report online.

yeah read through all the threads, still thinking about callng on the phone to do a CC order that way. Just wondering what my odds are, I have never dealt with them before. Anyone have recent experiences? I was planning on mentioning everything read to see what they said, especially about customer information....

When any company takes your credit card number and give it to a third company that charges stuff on it, you damn well better be worried.

It happened to ATers, it happened to people on the BBB site, and chances are it'll happen to YOU!

Just remembered I have a CC I paid off months ago, zero balance with a small limit. Their system is down right now so they cant even take phone orders, but "Rafael" is going to call me as soon as it's up to take my order. I am going to place the order and then cancel the CC the day it arrives, should be safe, if they screw me and it doesn't show or they overcharge me or another charge appears on my empty balance I will let my CC company deal with them. Of course I will let everyone know how it turns out.

You can get a direct extension number for your CSR that can be reached at this number
1-800-955-1888. Ext. 5821 is a Mr. Ed Mason, let's make him AT's very own TD CSR, I aksed him about their ratings, credit card abuse claims, etc. He had "not heard of those complaints".....

Rafael never called back, got Charles this time (Ext. 5803) and placed my order, supposed to be here in a couple of days.....

TigerDirect allows for Paypal.

I just ordered a router, 2 PCI cards, and a PCMCIA card. Hopefully it gets here.

Read detailed descriptions of those items on TD site:
Sounds to me that you don't get any warranty - you will have to ship this stuff to the manufacturer. Also, do not expect to see any accessories in those boxes.

(I must note that I have not dealt with TigerDirect myself, but I've heard enough including from their employees directly).

--------------------------------------------------------

THIS ITEM IS AN OPEN BOX ITEM:

Once TigerDirect receives an opened return unit it goes through a rigorous 7 point check to assure that our customers are getting what they paid for. There may be situations where a customer may have neglected to send back the manuals and some documentation so those situations are reflected in our low prices. Replacement documentation, etc. is NOT available if not included with the product.

We're clearing the warehouse of these items by SACRIFICING THEM at amazing prices! Original manufacturer warranties may apply. TigerDirect offers a 30 day limited depot warranty from ship date on units with expired manufacturer limited warranties

Seems like some good prices to me so I ordered some crap. I've ordered in the past with no problems fwiw. Sounds like a case where it might not hurt to use a one time CC number though.

edit: usb adapter is now on backorder

Well my routers and pcmcia card just came in. Both routers have been rma'ed and have the previous owners notes and a photocopy of their receipts in the box...... I can't get either one of them to give me the config page or respond to a ping on the management address of 192.168.254.254 either. Sounds like tiger direct came through again

btw: the receipts are both from compusa so these aren't returns to tiger that they're turning back around.

I am amazed that so many people fall for their scams over and over again.

Specially new members.

TG is *KNOWN* for buying the trash from large companies and reselling them as NEW.

They usually label used and returned and refurbished stuff as NEW or BRAND NEW, so what did you expect when they admit here that this is an "Openbox"?

Did you seriously think that the items would work?

Honestly yes. If someone sells an item as open box after an rma with no manuals and even says they've inspected it, I think it should work. A ton of stuff gets rma'ed that is good but can't be sold as new. I figured maybe they were representing it honestly for a change.....I also knew there was a strong chance they were not and didn't mind the risk.

Places like ComputerGeeks and newegg also sell
open box/refurb. stuff at fair prices and usually
as described. These places provide top value pricing
for people who are looking for the absolute best prices.

TIGER has always played around the fringes, and time
after time you will hear of dishonest representation
of product, to the point that misrepresentation appears
to be company policy.

ordered yesterday, UPS says my package is on the way, CC should have that posted already so I will call and cancel that now....

I don't care about documentation, mauals, etc, as long as the hardware itself works, which if you bought the Siemens Speedstream products is a little tricky from what I have read about them. I'm guessing most people couldn't figure them out and just sent them back, do a quick google search on yours Soybomb.....

Whatever does not work is going back, I don't pay for my shipping so that's not a problem.
