Note that the drive is only 2MB. I'd rather pay $30 for the 200GB Seagate (5 yr warranty). Only 15 cents/GB vs 12.5 cents for the el cheapo.

How much real-world difference does a 2mb vs. 8mb vs. 16mb buffer really make?

Zero with large file transfer, and no more than about 1/2 second delay with small files. The boost from 8MB to 16MB is even smaller.

Stores open at 8AM on the 19th. I already went and am back. Had to fight my way through the crowd of 4. Got the $9.99 AR drive (Samsung 3-yr warranty), PNY 512MB CF (SD also available) for $9.99 AR and the canned air free after rebate.

Need to stay on top of things, like check rebate status online, even though eRebates sends you an email to confirm submission. Then sends email updates when the status changes on your rebate.
