I'am in NC. I picked up one of these this morning. Remember only the CompUSA branded drive is on sale at $99.99. The regular price is $119.99 - 20 instant savings (Don't know hwere people are getting $139.99 from unless CompUSA pricing is now regional). $105.99 out the door after tax. Ronorrow's ad states limit one but I don't know if they are actually enforcing it.

Hmm, I just picked up one of these in the Sacramento compusa and the price was $139. I was expecting to price match it tomorrow to $99, but now I'm wondering if its going to be a $20 instant rebate or $40. Sounds like its a regional thing and is different from place to place.

In either case, your net should be $99.99. I would not open the package yet if you purchased and have not yet received the instant savings as it does say not valid on prior purchases although I don't see them enforcing this. I guess you could always buy another tomotrow and return the one you purchased today

Yep, ata100 will work on your ata66 mobo. You'll just get ata66 throuhput - not an issue.

raid them and boom! an instant performace upgrade, does anybody know if you put 2 5400rpm hds in raid, would the performace be better than one single 7200 rpm hd?

Depends on what raid config you use, what you use your computer for, etc. Raid usually isn't worth the hassle, I'd rather deal with a single 7200 rpm than a raid setup.

just hit 2 compusa's in miami, fl... first @ the falls had them priced at $169 on shelf... second @ dadeland had them $169 on shelf, but then a special $139 section at the front of the store with about 60 drives, i'm sure these are the ones that will be cheaper tomorrow

almost bough 2 tonight to PM tomorrow but might as well just go back, need to see a manager and he was not available when i went, so lame, i had just spoken with him 1.5hrs before.......... argh

anyways, picking 2 up even if it means 2 trips, my replaytv will LOVE this upgrade =)

I got one of these 540 series drives in 20 gig size. It has 12ms access time vs 9ms for most higher end drives. With 40 gigs per platter it should be fairly fast. In the Dallas paper it's listed as $139.99 - $40 instant rebate. The ad doesn't say limit 1.
