Hey, Rossman, are you sure about that Staples SKU? My Staples guy claims it's 443938, and that 444723 comes up for him as some cell phone accessory. At my firm insistence, he did double check it, too, LOL!

Anyway, thanks all for a great deal!!

SKU #443938 is the correct SKU.

I just found the shelf tag on one of the boxes (Manager must have pulled it)

Thanks Azshopper70!

I was able to pick up six of these with a hour of your initial post at two local stores. Both stores also included a free PPP valued at $20 with each drive and still let me use my $$ coupons !

What are you doing over here in Ferengi land?

That was the Staples SKU given to me by the local Staples clerk, apparently they gave me the wrong one.

Do I still get a w00t at least for effort?

theshamu, obviously, you need that trusty Staples, $46,000 off $47,000 coupon, so you can clean them right out!

Scored one (last one) in Orlando, FL. Shelf sticker said $279.99 and the salesman looked pretty shocked when I asked him to scan it. Also bought some picture software I've been wanting and used the $30 off coupon. Best part was that $25 worth of MIR printed out for the software which was already free because of the coupon. W00t!

Nashville TN: Snagged the last one in the entire metro area at 5 minutes before store closing. (Had to drive 30 minutes to get there.)

The shelf tag even read $109.50, so I consider myself pretty lucky...

Am kinda disappointed it's only 5400 RPM, but considering Mac users usually get screwed on price, I'm not complaining.

Haha, very funny. Anyways, I called the store just for the heck of it, and of course they had none! So I was obviously quoted the stock info from nearest warehouses.

If you don't have access to an as400 computer....you can always ask an employee to do it from the gun. They gotta log in....then you can go to the inventory menu to check store stock...and warehouse stock. Neat thing is you can also find out what everything costs Staples.

Check out how much they make on printer cables....it will shock you.

LOL... i could operate a staples gun in my sleep pratacally.. and log onto the as400 with my eyes closed.. i can do an inventory check on it tommorrow for everyone..

btw our cost is extremly LOW on cables... like 3 dollars for a 30 dollar cable
and staple removers are like .14cents and will sell them for 3 bucks... now thats a markup!

Unfortunatly, the last 3 drives where puchased by one person 10 minutes before I got to my local staples. It really sucks how people just hord things to make a few bucks, instead of letting more people benifit by buying just what they are going to use. The staples salesman told me that they had 15 this AM, but people where buying 3-5 each. That bits

Anyone know if it's possible to take out the HD and put in it's place a CDRW drive? I'm not familiar with how big these things are, and whether it's possible to get in them.

It's just a thought instead of buying an internal HD and a firewire enclosure for a CDRW drive.

these things must have been on clearance for a while, just took us a while to find.

I drove all over SoCal and finally found 2 (out of 5 stores that said they had them)

Just got back from the NE 122nd Glisan Portland, OR Staples and got the last two, the $50 off $200 printable coupon worked like a charm!

Who makes a decent/affordable FireWire card (other than the OEM Audigy recommendation)?

I think they put lots of items on clearance today.

Now I have a 40 gig USB 2.0 and a 80 gig FireWire.
