take care,

This is from the rebate:

Ideal for speed-intensive applications such as editing videos, playing games, listening to music or just adding additional hard drive storage to your system. Up to 30 times faster than USB, the 3000DV features the Maxtor award-winning 7,200 RPM hard drive - up to 56% faster than our 5400RPM hard drive version.

I thought we were getting the 5400RPM so I don't thing the rebate is good for the drive that we are getting?

MAYAN - Although I don't have either of my 2 hard drives with me I was also under the impression that we purchased the external Maxtor 80GB FireWire 5400RPM hard drive.

Mine had a $50 rebate sticker on the box if you also buy a FireWire card. I wonder which FireWire cards qualify for that $50 rebate? If I do get the $50 rebate that would drop my final price to $119 or $59.50 EACH after coupon and rebate. Actually wouldn't that be $50 rebate per hard drive? If so that would be $69 total or $34.50 EACH!

I found one !!! I called a local staples in SD, CA, they told me that they had one left, I put in on hold a bolted down to the store w/ my printable 20 off 100 coupon, thx to obesewallet.

Now if Wildting in correct this REBATE for $30 will really make this a Flaming HOT deal.

109.50 - 20 coupon - 30 rebate= Makes it $59.50 +tax= for me $66.44 total

Thats great for a $300 retail drive!! Great way to trade mp3 and movies with friends, can't wait

Thanks anadtechers

Farbio - Thanks. Do you have the Staples 6 digit SKU for that FireWire card? What was the regular and clearance price?

Even without the $50 rebate or even the $50 coupon this is still a VERY HOT deal.

Found one!

The store was supposed to have two (checked the stock from another store), but I think the 'manager in training' wanted to get one for himself, I confronted him and he gave me all sort of excuses about the inventory system. He found another one in another store and will get it for me.

It seems that the $30 rebate does apply, sweet!

Anyone here has a $20 printable coupon? Could you point me in the right direction? My local staples is kind of picky with the coupons.

Got mine in Hermitage... I can walk to the store in Bellevue, but nada.

<<That 50 off 200 coupoon that everyone mentioning, is that limited to NYC, or is it national?>>
<<Since when has a coupon code ever been regional? This is national. There are two different ways to buy either online using the 5 digit coupon code number or using the printable coupon at your local Staples B&M. >>

Yeah, but the email talks about NY in big white letters surrounded by a red border. Your store in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska might have a problem with that. Now, if you had a copy of the email with the headline off the $30 coupon that's generic... Hmmmm...

I got two from the Hermitage, TN store today using the $50 off $200. I

Thanks, I think I'll either wait for this or another free after MIR deal to come around or buy a cheapo $30 card from eBay.

I thought we were getting the 5400RPM so I don't thing the rebate is good for the drive that we are getting?

FYI - The model that Staples is selling is NOT the 3000DV that is required for the $30 Maxtor MIR. The Staples model is the 3000LE which is no longer produced. The main difference between the two is that the LE is 5400 RPM whereas the DV is 7200 RPM. There are no current Maxtor promotions for the 3000LE, but at $90 each out the door with a free PPP I will still take'em

please dont bring reality into this thread. Next you will be saying people like me and RossMan buy this stuff just 'cause we found a deal on it, not because we actually need it..... wait a second

Well, okay, I resemble that remark, too. But it just seems to me that the deal in the other thread for the 7200rpm 80GB Maxtor is a better deal, unless you particularly need a Firewire external drive. Is seems that this drive is only 5400rpm, for a few more ducats, right?

huesmann - What I find appealing about this deal is it's an external FireWire hard drive. Sure it's only 5400 vs 7200RPM but I'll barely notice the speed since I'm only going to save data, use this as backup, MP3's, etc. If you need an internal hard drive then go for the other deal, otherwise this deal is perfect.

The portability of this hard drive is awesome.

Right, that's what I thought. But (no offense) how many places are you gonna port this drive that are going to have a Firewire card? Unless you wanna haul it between home and work where you know you've got Firewire?

huesmann - Good question I have no other machines at home or work which have FireWire. The only other computer that I know of is my sisters and as far as I know I won't be bringing it to her house. It's a good deal on a great hard drive and it's external, need we say more?

Damn... only one left in my local staples. Got it reserved, going to pick it up soon. But there are no 20 off 100 printable coupons.

I can however, find a 30 off 150 coupon. Anyone have suggestions on how to fill up an extra 40 bucks worth of stuff?
