Back in 1993, Maxtor made the worst hard drives Are any of you guys old enough to remember
those days?
I remember those days for sure. Quantum Fireball was the best back then. I bought my first Quantum off a friend for $125, 4.3GB and that was a deal. Samsung was bottom of the barrel, but I have never experienced a bad one. Remember the Conners? I just fixed a machine with a 400MB Conner.
Toms Hardware Guide was the only site out there worth viewing back then.
Anyway, to keep on target... Samsung seems to be a reputable company. I will give them the benefit of the doubt on the drive, but if you can get a similar deal with a known "better" brand, than go that route instead. To those that are buying this drive, keep us posted on the reliabilty.
