Not sure - was able to get through about an hour ago, but can't now...maybe the site is just getting hammered again?

This is very dead. My GF works for IBM and they are in the process of contacting those who have ordered this to let them know that there has been "a misunderstanding". The part is for the caddy ONLY. No drive will be shipped with this order.
Sorry, but too good to be true.

Like I said, I have my drive using that part number to order @ the $37 price so I can in fact confirm its a drive and not just a tray.Originally posted by: mellowfellow0o0
Maybe you missed the "misunderstanding" part?
Hey whatever I am sure that neither IBM parts nor their web ordering division know what is going on.
Listen and believe what you will. Only trying to help. But then again, maybe IBM will be generous. Who knows maybe they will let some get by or still fill it if you whine enough. Either way good luck.

Did not expect this come through. Big shout out to kamakazii at that 'other' forum!
Came by DHL, and early, since I ordered late Friday evening by the (one dollar or so cheaper!) 2-3 business days delivery option. I am stunned, but displaying my best and biggest shiat-eating grin as I type this.
I only opened one, but it is the Model HTS548080M9AT00 5400 rpm 80gb Hitachi. An orange sticker on it says, "Servicable Used Part" and its build date is Dec. '05.
Yeeeeeee-haw!!

Well, usually the best strategy is to not get greedy and only order one, so as to not call attention to your order, but I really thought these would never come through anyway, so . . .Originally posted by: sisq0kidd

According to an "IBM insider" over on that "other forum", these are ALL new drives but have that sticker for warranty (90 days) purposes, and that IBM did not have ANY refurb versions of the Hitachi 80gb drive in stock at the time of the, ummmm, "sale".Originally posted by: JohnnyPastrami

So what the heck is a "Servicable Used Part" ?
I can't imagine that it would be a refurb if it has a Dec 05 build date.
Maybe it's a pull from an existing system? e.g.:customer wanted a different drive in a laptop order, IBM replaces and can't legally sell the pull as new.
